Hi, My name is Joe, I have a bachelors degree in Public Health and Mathematics. I attended North Carolina State University and obtained a Masters degree in Statistics with a concentration in Biostatistics. My job is to help students in need and to help those who struggle learning in a class setting. The benefits of one on one teaching is very beneficial and tends to show progress each quarter.

I do have experience in tutoring and first started as a biostatistics tutor in college and then eventually as a graduate student at NCSU I was given the opportunity to be a teaching assistant for students taking ST 370, Statistics for Engineers. Some of the applications were related to civil and industrial engineering. Some of the other experiences related to statistics is working in clinical trials while in college and being part of a statistical team using Time Series Analysis.

As a tutor, I believe repetition is the nature of learning and helping students learn the best methods of studying and preparing for exams can really show an improvement in their overall understanding. In the past a lot of students have had trouble learning in a large classroom and having one on one tutoring might be beneficial to the student. Seeing success in my students is a great feeling and hopefully as your tutor you will see improvement.

Anatomy

Anatomy

Anatomy can be stressful to learn as a student, but I have design study techniques to allow the student to memorize the various details and vocabulary terms. My favorite and most enjoyable to learn is the chapter about the lymphatic system and immune system.
Biostatistics

Biostatistics

I have experience working in the clinical setting using biostatistical knowledge for a phase 3 clinical trial. My background in this field is first working as a tutor in college and then working at the Medical University. In graduate school I was given the opportunity to leverage my public health background for a consulting project. Some areas of expertise in biostatistics would be using Statistical Methods related to Hypothesis testing(Graduate School level), Linear/Logistic regression, one way/two-way ANOVA/ MANOVA, sample size calculations(power calculations), survival analysis, causal inference, machine learning, experimental design, time series analysis, and compartmental models in epidemiology.
Epidemiology

Epidemiology

My knowledge in this area comes with only taking classes, however, I do have real life experience in the mathematical epidemiology side using compartmental models to model the role and dynamics of infectious diseases(COVID-19, H1N1). I also have experience in the analysis of infectious disease data with the Reed-Frost Model & Greenwood Models using stochastic probabilities(Chain Models, etc.)
SAS

SAS

As a statistical programmer my main duties was using SAS to conduct data analysis for clinical trials. Some advanced techniques that was required was using Macros and Proc SQL. These techniques allowed the programmer to be efficient in data analysis and provide expertise to the field of biostatistics. Performing statistical inference in SAS is highly effective.
Statistics

Some areas of expertise would be using Statistical Methods related to Hypothesis testing(Graduate School level), Linear/Logistic regression, one way/two-way ANOVA/ MANOVA, sample size calculations(power calculations), survival analysis, causal inference, machine learning, experimental design, time series analysis, and compartmental models in epidemiology. Statistics can be applied to business, physics, biology, economics, medical data, chemistry, finance, and many more areas!

Beyond Excellent

Joseph is an absolutely Fabulous Tutor. When I started with him, I did not know what was going on. Three lessons in, I see the light. He is excellent. I would highly recommend him to anyone who is confused and lost in the Biostatistics world to get a good foundation. I am very happy!
