About Rachelle

Bio

I have a Master of Music in Composition degree from the University of South Carolina School of Music and have been teaching private lessons in violin, guitar, voice, music theory, and composition for over 5 years. My current studio consists of over 50 students ranging in age from elementary to adult. In addition to being a teacher, I am a professional composer and recording artist, but my real passion lies in providing accessible music education.

I have a Master of Music in Composition degree from the University of South Carolina School of Music and have been teaching private lessons in violin, guitar, voice, music theory, and composition for over 5 years. My current studio consists of over 50 students ranging in age from elementary to adult. In addition to being a teacher, I am a professional composer and recording artist, but my real passion lies in providing accessible music education.

My approach to teaching has been formed by an understanding of student individuality. Students flourish when given opportunities to explore their interests; therefore, I proactively engage in cultivating innovative, interdisciplinary, and learner-focused lesson plans. In addition to technique, I teach students to read traditional music notation, tablature, and chord sheets. I also incorporate concepts of foundational music theory, aural skills, and improvisation so that they can understand how their favorite pieces are constructed and make informed musical decisions. With regular practice, my students improve steadily in their instrumental, vocal, or compositional technique.

Additionally, I have won multiple awards for my compositions and international soloists such as Brett Deubner have performed my works. My credits include films such as Nefarious, which won Best Horror Film at the L.A. Olympus Film Festival, and Shame, which was premiered at the South Carolina State Museum.

Rachelle is the perfect tutor for my daughter. She worked us into her schedule last minute, was patient with my daughter, and provided her with a practice booklet. My kid likes her and is excited about her next lesson. I'd give 10 stars if I could.
