My current studio consists of over 50 students ranging in age from elementary to adult. In addition to being a teacher, I am a professional composer and recording artist, but my real passion lies in providing accessible music education.
My approach to teaching has been formed by an understanding of student individuality. Students flourish when given opportunities to explore their interests; therefore, I proactively engage in cultivating innovative, interdisciplinary, and learner-focused lesson plans. In addition to technique, I teach students to read traditional music notation, tablature, and chord sheets. I also incorporate concepts of foundational music theory, aural skills, and improvisation so that they can understand how their favorite pieces are constructed and make informed musical decisions. With regular practice, my students improve steadily in their instrumental, vocal, or compositional technique.
