After eight years teaching in my local public and private schools, I grew frustrated with the school systems and decided to leave teaching in early 2020. Over the past 5.5 years, I have been focusing on tutoring exclusively, and I absolutely love it!

What I love most about tutoring is working with students one-to-one so that I can help with exactly what each student needs. I am able to diagnose possible problem areas quickly, think of ways to help fix misconceptions and patch any holes in student learning. Students can make major gains in one tutoring session that just aren't possible in the classroom.

My students find me to be patient, supportive, and empathetic. As a parent of teenagers, I understand what a stressful and challenging time it can be. I specialize in helping students become more confident in their math skills. I truly believe that anyone can be a good math learner with determination and practice!

I have a Masters of Education from Slippery Rock University and a Bachelor of Science in Economics (Summa Cum Laude) from the University of Pittsburgh. I came close to earning a second B.S. in Mathematics, completing 36 credits in math and statistics courses. I hold permanent teaching certification in Pennsylvania in Mathematics, and I have benefited from many professional development programs that have helped me improve my skills, including 10 days of the NMSI Laying the Foundation training which prepares students for success in the AP Calculus course.

I am comfortable with all levels of middle and high school math, and I have classroom experience with almost every course from 6th grade general math to AP Calculus BC. I consider myself an AP Calculus specialist but I enjoy helping with math courses at every level.

Excellent calculus tutor

Kerri was an outstanding tutor for my daughter for both honors pre-calculus and for AP Calculus BC. She had an excellent understanding of the material and was able to clearly explain concepts. She was organized in her approach to teaching, and patient in teaching and reviewing concepts. Her understanding of AP Calc was very helpful to my daughter when preparing for the exam.
