Initially, I received my California Teaching Credential,(I have updated with an Oregon Teaching Credential), with the intention of teaching my own class, but I have found that my preference is geared towards the individual student's needs.

Over the years I have worked with both students who were struggling in the classroom and tutored students with had mild-moderate learning difficulties. I have lead remedial math/reading groups and lesson plans were adapted to peak the interest and needs of each student. My strengths include patience, compassion, positive feedback, and ability to modify lessons to meet the student's interest/needs.

I currently work in a resource room with special needs children (grade 1-5th) using phonic based programs (ex. "Explode the Code") for the last two years. In addition, I have worked, in the past, for Huntington Learning Center (California), as a one-on-one teacher with multiple students using their phonics based reading program. For the last year, I have used Phonics based curriculum during my reading sessions as a tutor for Wyzant. I addressed: beginning/middle/end consonants, short/long vowels, consonant blends, digraphs (th, wh, sh, ch, kn) and vowel combinations (ea, ie, ow, aw). I feel that I am well experienced to use a phonics approach to teach reading to elementary students.

Knowlegbil teacher

After the third class with Bev, I've started to see a lot improvement. She has a lot of patience, she knows how to work with children like Caleb. I'll highly recommend her for all the parants that they have children with special needs. I'm very happy that I met her and it took me a year to find the right teacher. It is a blessing to have her in Calab's life.

Absolutely wonderful!

I cannot say enough good things about Miss Bev! I have seen my son grow so much in the areas he was struggling in. Bev is patient and kind and finds the right teaching methods that work for my son. She is truly remarkable and we are so grateful that we found her. My son enjoys working with her and she is extremely accommodating. I highly recommend her.

Bev is great!

We've been working with Bev for a month or so to help our son get up to grade level in reading and math. She has been great! So patient and kind. She has a lot of different techniques for keeping a squirmy 7 year old focused and learning. My son has really responded to her approach and is making progress. We're going to continue to use her services for the foreseeable future. I would highly recommend her. She's lovely.

Miss Bev is amazing

Bev is amazing! I'm the dummy that left a one star rating that should have been a four star. I called to change it while on vacation, but I was too late. And for that I feel really bad. I fell very lucky to have her around this summer! Miss Bev... I owe you a big apology! You are an amazing person and you have a big heart! Thank you from the bottom of my heart

Very patient and great with children

Bev has made such a difference in our son's reading. He has more confidence that ever before. Bev comes in with new ideas to help him even more. I would highly recommend Bev for any child who may need help with reading.

Amazing, Patient, and Accommodating!!

My daughter has been seeing Bev for a few months now, I have to say I am very impressed with her. She is very patient with my daughter, who has ADD and hates school work. Bev has been willing to try many different things to find a way to connect with Katelyn. Katelyn is now more excited for her lessons than to go to school. This was our first ever tutoring experience, and I feel we are the lucky ones.
