Educational Background & Certifications

I also completed the Special Education Certification program at Portland State University. My current endorsements include Middle Level Language Arts, K–12 Social Studies, and Special Education. Teaching & Tutoring Experience
I'm a current public school teacher and I’ve taught middle school Language Arts, Social Studies, and Humanities for more than 11 years. That includes two years in Special Education. My approach to tutoring is practical, student-centered, and grounded in strategies that actually work in real classrooms. I focus on helping students feel confident, supported, and clear about what they’re learning. Over the years, I’ve worked with students on reading comprehension, writing, executive functioning, and content-area support in a mix of one-on-one, small group, and inclusive settings.
Student Ages & Instructional Context
Most of my work has been with 7th and 8th grade students, but I’ve also supported learners in upper elementary and high school. I’ve taught in full-classroom environments, led small-group interventions, and provided individual instruction. I’ve worked as both a general education and special education teacher. My students have included learners with IEPs, 504s, and TAG designations, along with many emergent bilinguals, including newcomers. I do my best to meet each student where they are and adjust my support based on what helps them move forward.
