I am a doctoral candidate in chemistry at Oklahoma State University, where my research focuses on synthetic organometallic chemistry, catalyst development, reaction mechanisms, and chemical characterization. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology-Chemistry from Southern Nazarene University and have completed advanced graduate coursework in organic, inorganic, physical, and analytical chemistry. My research has also given me extensive practical experience with spectroscopy, laboratory techniques, reaction mechanisms, and scientific problem-solving.
I have experience teaching undergraduate general chemistry laboratories, tutoring students during office hours, and mentoring undergraduate researchers in my laboratory. I have worked primarily with college-aged students in both group and one-on-one settings. In these roles, I have helped students understand challenging chemistry concepts, solve quantitative problems, interpret experimental results, and strengthen their scientific reasoning. I have also trained undergraduate researchers in laboratory procedures, chemical safety, data analysis, spectroscopy, and experimental design.
My tutoring approach emphasizes understanding why a concept or problem-solving method works rather than relying solely on memorization. I break difficult topics into manageable steps, use diagrams and real-world examples when helpful, and adapt my explanations to each student’s background and learning style. I am prepared to tutor general chemistry, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, reaction mechanisms, stoichiometry, kinetics, equilibrium, thermodynamics, spectroscopy, and laboratory concepts. My goal is to help students become more confident, independent, and successful in chemistry.
