Hello! I'm Alex, an undergraduate at Harvard College studying Economics and Government. As someone who loves to tutor and teach, I'd love to help students reach their academic goals! I have over five years of dedicated tutoring experience, ranging from elementary through high school students. This includes hosting a number of SAT/ACT bootcamps and over 3.5K minutes of verified tutoring. I also received a 36 on the ACT and am familiar with test materials both for the SAT and the ACT, in particular the math portion. I received a score of 5 on several AP exams as well, including AP Calculus and AP US History. I'm excited to start tutoring and teaching students about how they can utilize the skills learned in session and apply them in successful ways.
In terms of tutoring, I truly believe that the best way to learn content is through practice and feeling comfortable with each concept. This is the method that I utilize for both test prep and math teaching. This comes from a heavy willingness to collaborate with the student and engage in practice problems for their future studies. A typical session will include reviewing practice problems (from some homework assigned) and making sure that the student fully understands how to not only solve that particular question but how they can also apply this knowledge into a future test. I try my absolute best to work with the student, meaning that I encourage the student to talk through their thought-process of how to solve a question before I step in. This allows critical thinking and recognition before the tutor comes in, which is crucial to build, especially because testing environments will force students to react in new ways.
I hope to help students reach their test goals and also gain greater strength in their academics!
