I am a results-oriented tutor. Over 200 of my students have passed the Accuplacer, AFOQT, ALEKS, HESI A2, IBEW, OAR, PERT, Regents, TEAS, and TSI exams. I help rising college freshmen earn high enough placement test scores to test into advanced math, or out of math entirely, including one who earned a 96% ALEKS score after 1 lesson.

I help students achieve passing HESI A2, TEAS 7, and IBEW aptitude test scores to improve their chances of acceptance into nursing school or the apprenticeship program. Two months ago, one earned a 90% HESI math score after 2 lessons. All of my IBEW students have passed the aptitude test in 4 or fewer lessons.

As a former community college algebra instructor, I have experience working with both traditional students and those who have been out of school for several years. To prepare for each exam, I familiarize students with the content and provide time-saving strategies to help them avoid remedial math, test into advanced math, and save time and money. My students see immediate results, with many needing just 1 lesson, including ones who earned math scores of 82% on the Algebra 1 Regents, 96% on the ALEKS, 285 on the Accuplacer QAS, and improved from 930 to 976 on the TSI. In 3 lessons, one’s PERT score went from 112 to 130. The average number of lessons needed for the many dozens of my students to pass has been 3.

I have a decade of experience as a math educator and test prep tutor. I possess the communication skills to break down complex AFOQT and OAR algebra and geometry problems into easy-to-understand terms. I am adept at providing shortcuts to overcome the lack of a calculator and time-saving test strategies for the AFOQT Verbal section. I deliver immediate results. I patiently explain algebra problems step-by-step in easily understandable terms to middle and high school students taking algebra for the first time or college and adult learners who need a refresher. They all leave each lesson equipped with the tools and knowledge necessary to break down and understand Algebra 1 problems.

As both a college algebra instructor and private algebra 2 tutor, I have assisted numerous students with reviewing algebra 1 concepts and learning new algebra 2 concepts such as imaginary and complex numbers, logarithms, and function transformations. I have also helped to introduce them to trigonometry and precalculus topics. I sharpen their problem-solving and mathematical-modeling skills so they can solve problems involving topics like quadratics and projectile motion, or exponential functions and compound interest. Among my greatest success stories are one student who went from 40% to 71%, one who went from 22% to 80%, and another who improved from an F to 92% after our lessons together.

I explain ASVAB math in simple language and provide shortcuts to math problems that teachers never show you. I unlock the secrets to understanding ASVAB vocabulary and reading comprehension questions. I deliver immediate results. Within 5 lessons, 2 of my students’ scores improved from 22 to 59 and 22 to 77. Last month, one improved from 32 to 51 after 2 lessons. At least 20 of my passing students’ ASVAB scores have risen by 10+ points, with most in fewer than 6 lessons.

With 18 years’ experience as a healthcare professional, I can help you master HESI A2 vocabulary, identify sentence types by the number and types of clauses, and distinguish between common homophones. All but 2 of my students have earned scores between 88 and 100%. The 2 who didn’t went from 42 to 76% and 50 to 84%. I have a decade of experience as a math educator working with traditional students and students who have been out of school for several years. I provide calculator tips for certain TEAS math questions and offer strategies for ones that cannot be solved with a calculator. I also teach the rules of grammar, spelling, and punctuation to help students master the TEAS English and Language Usage section. I've helped dozens pass the TEAS, and a third of them earned math and English scores between 88 and 100%. The average number of lessons needed for all of my students to pass has been 5.5.
Trigonometry

I teach students about right-triangle trigonometry, the Unit Circle, periodic functions, the Laws of Sines and Cosines, and other trig concepts. Some Algebra 2 classes only briefly discuss these topics, but I provide students with a deeper understanding of function transformations, angle conversions, trig identities, and other trig topics.

AFOQT Verbal help

Michael was very helpful and a patient tutor. I was able to increase my score and pass the verbal portion of the AFOQT with his help. He also gave helpful advice along with material that would help me study for the test. Initially, I was nervous and didn't know what to expect but I feel that sessions that I had with him were really helpful. I believe I had three sessions with him, and they felt as if they were compacted with a lot of knowledge, I spent more of my time preparing on my own and taking what I've learned to improve for the next session. So, we can analyze areas in which I need to improve in. I'm greatly thankful because this was my final (third) chance to take the AFOQT and I'm glad I passed!

Extremely patient tutor

Michael has done a great job of tutoring me for my AFOQT. I put in a lot of work and time but he helped me raise my quantitative score from a 4 to a 53. Amazing Help With The Navy’s OAR Exam

Michael was great to work with. At first, I tried to take the OAR with no additional resources and achieved a 46. I struggled with the math section on the OAR in particular. With Michael’s support, I managed to achieve a 54. He was professional, patient, thorough, and most of all, caring. I could tell that he really cared how well I was grasping everything and he followed up with me after my 2nd attempt to see how I did. Incredible Tutor

Michael was extremely professional, very patient, and knowledgeable. The way he explained things made everything click, he gave a purpose to every explanation and that helped me visualize and comprehend what he was explaining.
