I use the Socratic Method to get students to think and work independently. Students appreciate my patience and clear explanations. I have a decade of math, English, and test prep tutoring experience. My schedule is very flexible, and I welcome students of all ages.

When you are preparing for a standardized test, there is no textbook, syllabus, or curriculum to follow. If this is your first attempt, take a practice test first to help identify your weaknesses. If you have taken the test previously, then you already know what gives you difficulty.

I help students to avoid taking remedial math and to test into advanced math like calculus. I refresh students’ algebra, geometry, precalculus, and trigonometry skills to prepare them for the Accuplacer, ALEKS, CLEP, PERT, and TSI exams. I use official, up-to-date materials so you don’t waste time on topics not covered on the test. I have a decade of test prep tutoring experience.
AFOQT

AFOQT

I can help refresh your algebra and geometry skills and share tips to overcome the lack of a calculator. I can also teach you word arithmetic and other techniques to break down the meanings of difficult words. These strategies will enable you to minimize the time spent on each section and to maximize your test scores. I’ve helped over 130 students pass the AFOQT Quantitative and Verbal sections, including more than half who previously failed to earn the minimums. I use up-to-date AFOQT practice tests so that you don’t waste time reviewing items that won’t be tested. I also tutor OAR math.

I patiently explain linear equations and inequalities, systems of equations, quadratic functions, and other algebra concepts in easily understandable terms. I also have helped Algebra 1 and College Algebra students navigate the Pearson and ALEKS learning modules. The skill that separates me from other ASVAB tutors is that I can explain complex topics clearly and simply for even the most impenetrable students to understand. If you’ve been out of school for years, or if you’ve had lifelong struggles with math and English, I can strengthen your algebra, geometry, and vocabulary skills. I can show you shortcuts to overcome the lack of a calculator and share tips to break down the meanings of difficult words. These strategies will help you maximize your test scores. I have spent numerous semesters as a Calculus 1 tutor in my college's math lab. I also have spent years as a private, 1:1 high school AP Calculus AB tutor. I teach students how to evaluate limits, derivatives, and integrals, but the most important thing I do is to help them understand the concepts behind each problem.

I provide students with a refresher on fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions, basic algebra and other HESI A2 math concepts. I teach them memorization tools for measurement conversions. I also review the rules of grammar and demonstrate how to use affixes and root words to master HESI A2 vocabulary.

I have over 8 years' math and test prep experience. I am also a former college algebra instructor, so I am well-equipped to help you with IBEW Algebra and Functions questions. I am a former college algebra instructor, so I'm well-equipped to help students pass the Regents algebra exam. I use previous years' exams to help students prepare for the test. I teach test-taking strategies that will improve your time management and increase your test score. My most recent student earned an 82 after only 1 hour of tutoring.

SSAT

I tutor the SSAT math and verbal sections. Every day, I provide test prep strategies to help students improve their quantitative, vocabulary, and verbal analogies skills. The time-saving strategies I teach to students have helped them to double and triple their prior scores.
TEAS

TEAS

I provide students with calculator tips to answer TEAS math questions. I also review math concepts on the test that cannot be solved with a calculator. I teach students the rules of grammar, spelling, and punctuation to help them succeed on the TEAS English and Language Usage section. As a former community college algebra instructor, I have considerable experience working with students who have been out of school for several years.
Trigonometry

Trigonometry

I teach students about right-triangle trigonometry, the Unit Circle, periodic functions, the Laws of Sines and Cosines, and other trig concepts. Some Algebra 2 classes only briefly discuss these topics, but I provide students with a deeper understanding of function transformations, angle conversions, trig identities, and other trig topics.

Incredible Tutor

Michael was extremely professional, very patient, and knowledgeable. The way he explained things made everything click, he gave a purpose to every explanation and that helped me visualize and comprehend what he was explaining. I had a fantastic first experience with Michael as my tutor, and I can't recommend him enough. I was quite embarrassed to admit that I had forgotten a lot of math skills and had to relearn a significant portion of the material. Thank you so much for this favorable review! I often tell students that math skills are like anything else. Use it or lose it. It's often not the case that students do not know how to perform math and arithmetic operations. It's usually a matter of them not using them in a while, so they have forgotten and need to refresh their skills. It's also true that not everyone learns the same way, and that is why I try to demonstrate multiple approaches to solving a math problem.

Great help with AFOQT prep

Michael was awesome. I am studying for the AFOQT and my weakness is in the Math areas. Michael sent me some practice questions and we worked through some of the problems I struggled with. He helped me with tips and refreshing my skill set. He also explained everything that made everything easier to understand and less intimidating. I highly recommend him.
