I graduated from the Ohio State University with a Bachelor's degree in Biological Mathematics. There, I worked on mathematical modelling of epidemics and cell cycles, as well as on novel AI networks that classify MRI imaging data. I graduated from the Ohio State University with a Bachelor's degree in Biological Mathematics. There, I worked on mathematical modelling of epidemics and cell cycles, as well as on novel AI networks that classify MRI imaging data. For many of these projects I was the project lead, meaning I explained mathematical frameworks and strategies to my project teammembers and to my professor/company, so coherent communication of math to those with less of a math background is a skill I have experience with.
I also have 1 year of experience tutoring ACT math to high school students. This opportunity gave me exposure to considering not only how I think about the problem, but about how they think about the problem. I literally put myself in my students shoes and force myself to find how they approach the problem, then steering them toward the right understanding from there. My teaching style involves asking how the student approaches the problem and developing multiple ways to get to the right answer, rather than forcing the same algorithm on every student. This way, I teach not only the right answer, but an understanding framework that the student can apply to reach the right answer in a variety of problems.
