Hello, I am Christian. I have been playing chess for my entire life and have found a great joy in passing on what I have learned to others. While I have little experience in formal tutoring, I find that it is very easy to help people learn to play when they are eager to get better and, of course, learn to win. I have taught several people in my social circles as a result.

I do not engage in standard routines, such as the Queen’s Gambit or the Italian Defense. I do know most practiced strategies and how to employ or beat them, but my preferred style focuses more on studying the board and understanding the opposing player’s moves to understand how they plan to win and taking action accordingly.

I believe the saying “the best defense is a good offense” and play/teach accordingly, but I also know from experience that sometimes your preferred offensive strategy can be outpaced, and thus you will meed a solid understand of defense as well. I believe in entering the end game with as many advantages as possible in order to either force the opponent to surrender or overwhelm them with too much for them to defend and not enough material or time to be able to.

have studied various chess programs, such as Chess Titans, and played online and in person for the last several years. On every website I have registered and played, my rating falls into an “Advanced” category.

Ultimately, I love this game and the varied methods of play. If you’re looking to learn in order to be a grandmaster, I can only take you so far. If you’re looking to be able to be better than average and play competitively, you’ve come to the right guy! Let’s have fun!
