I am qualified to tutor Algebra I, due to the numerical qualities of my work. Algebra is very basic to other studies in Math and to the 'real world.' I enjoy Algebra and enjoy tutoring it.

Most students struggle with Algebra because they haven't gotten their minds around the notion of strange variables like "x".
This barrier can be broken down in minutes with a common sense explanation.
Algebraic math is a major stepping stone to multiple sciences and must be mastered to facilitate future academic progress in the sciences.

I've been tutoring SAT math for the past year and am very familiar with the exam. I scored a 790 on my own SAT Math test. As an SAT tutor I like to highlight the consistencies between similar types of problems that are found on the exam and introduce a systematic method for solving those types of problems.

Algebra 2 is like when algebra grows up. The ideas are similar to those in algebra, but whole new parts are added. Solving for x becomes more involved. Some students get stuck here because the problems are no longer easily solved in their heads. I have tutored Algebra 2 for over 15 years, and helped as a TA to several hundreds of students in Algebra 2. I enjoy the fact that the problems become more involved and that they are the stepping stones for applied mathematics, theoretical mathematics, or just science. I understand that the sheer amount of new ideas can be overwhelming for any student. I like to show how these new big problems are really just a bunch of simple problems we can take one by one. With that I can help make math easy for you.

Algebra (and pre-algebra) can be a lot fun, if you have time to learn, see and hear clear explanations, get enough practice, and can plug in the algebra ideas to your day-to-day life math. Lots of practice with good examples and a comfortable learning environment will help you achieve success (and greater confidence) in pre-algebra.
I have worked with math teaching and tutoring at the level of pre-algebra and algebra for over ten years, spending the most time in this math area during my teaching of upper elementary grades in Fresno and my tutoring of students of all ages since 1997. My certification in elementary education and my teaching of teens and college students have given me many opportunities to stay "tuned in" to the latest math teaching techniques and materials.
I also have taught algebra and pre-algebra whenever I teach or tutor students preparing for the ACT, SAT, GRE, ASVAB, C-BEST and other tests. I enjoy math and find it very useful for my everyday life; I like to help students enjoy it too. I look forward to helping you or your child better understand and feel more confident about pre-algebra, for whatever purposes (e.g. taking math classes, preparing for standardized tests, etc.).

I can help your with Math by looking at Patterns in Math, hands-on Math learning, and learning by repetition (i.e. worksheets and oral drills). I have a strong background with teaching Math and am willing to look at your child's individual Math needs and working from there. I will also try to make sure that I am following the Math Curriculum requirements of their current grade level.

I taught geometry in high school for more than 12 years. Starting from term definition to two column proofs to Polyhedrons and their properties to solid geometry.

I have taught from 3rd-6th grade Math in the Little Lake school district. I believe all students can succeed in Math, if they have a one-on-one teacher that shares simple strategies. Most of the elementary Math is about building skills in Math concepts.
