Hello! My name is Jaden S., and I am a 5th-year Software Engineering student graduating from the Rochester Institute of Technology in May 2025. I am passionate about helping fellow learners of any age understand and enjoy their studies!

I have tutored Calculus 1 & 2 privately in-person for senior year students and worked as an online tutor for the tutoring organization IDTech, where I taught Python, Java, Game Design, and Chess for children and teens. I worked as a Course Assistant for three semesters at the Rochester Institute of Technology and was responsible for grading student work, holding office hours, and assisting students. In addition, I have unofficially helped my peers and friends with a wide array of subjects throughout my college experience, including coding, math, science, and creative writing. My experience as a part-time tutor is widespread and spans over 4 years.

There are a multiplicity of learning styles, and each learner is unique in their approach to understanding the world around them. Mainstream curriculum often encourages a single method, which is more difficult to grasp for students who have non-adjacent learning styles. One of the joys of tutoring for me is that I can modify my approach to best fit a student's learning style and adjust as I get to know their student better and what works for them! Getting to see students finally get to understand their studies in a way that works naturally for their brain is always incredible.

I have a lot of passions alongside tutoring, and I love learning about the world around me! Here are a few things about me as a person: I play volleyball, table tennis, pickleball, and spikeball, I enjoy making board games and other personal projects, do card tricks, and I love creative writing! I have released two apps on the Apple App Store, made a mechanical wooden pinball machine, engineered an RPG system from scratch, and am always up for a fun project!

Thank you for your time and consideration, and I'm looking forward to meeting you!

Approved Subjects

General Computer

General Computer

I have been working with computers since I was a teenager. I studied software engineering for 5 years at RIT and have advanced experience with computers and net, working such as creating my own DNS server, setting up full-stack applications, and configuring network protocols and authentication during my internships.
HTML

HTML

I have worked with HTML since my second year in conjunction with JavaScript, React, and Flutter / Dart, and have three years of experience working with standard HTML use and some experience in more advanced uses of HTML
JavaScript

JavaScript

I have worked with JavaScript since my third year of college, and it is one of my favorite languages. Most of my senior academic projects have involved advanced JavaScript. I have created a custom DNS, three discord bots, and about a half dozen other smaller personal projects with JavaScript alone, along with many other projects that involved using JavaScript in some way. I tutored a friend throughout the first semester of my fourth year for her basic JavaScript class.
Python

Python

I taught myself Python at age 10, and it has been my go-to language for my personal projects ever since, including a project made for the Rochester Institute of Technology's Software Engineering Office to automate managing student workers' logged hours and payment. I have worked with Python academically since my freshman year, and it is one of my favorite languages! I have advanced experience with Python, and regularly taught the basics to children and teens when I worked for the online tutoring platform IDTech.
