With over eight years of teaching and tutoring experience, I specialize in helping clients break through academic and professional walls in data analysis, R programming, GIS, AP Biology, AP Environmental Science (APES), IB Biology, and college biology. My goal is to find how you learn best and to make challenging material approachable. I enjoy working with clients who feel overwhelmed, and I love hearing about my students' successes with challenging AP exams, research proposals, and R programming projects.
My style is discussion and visual learning based. That said, one thing I love about tutoring is that every student learns differently. I enjoy adapting my approach to fit the person rather than expecting everyone to learn the same way and love working with neurodivergent clients.
Alongside tutoring, I work in environmental consulting, where I manage data and reporting. Previously, I served as a Regional Assistant Biologist for NYS. My research includes work in plant communities, and I received funding for a project conserving 20 acres of wetland on Lake Ontario. I hold an MS in Environmental Science & Ecology from SUNY Brockport, where I served as a graduate teaching assistant. I also hold BAs in Biology and English from Buffalo State, where I conducted research on novel ecosystems and received the David V. Bullough Outstanding Senior Award.
Because I have degrees in both Biology and English, students trust me not only for help understanding the science, but also for guidance with scientific writing, lab reports, and research papers.
Outside of work, I'm usually exploring the outdoors with my kids, searching for wild mushrooms, or collecting native wildflower seeds for my garden. My interest in biology extends beyond the classroom, and I enjoy sharing that curiosity with my students whenever it helps bring a concept to life.
I look forward to supporting your academic or professional goals. Send me a message describing what you're working on or your goals, and we'll make a plan together.
