I am currently residing in Rye Brook, New York and looking for in person or remote students. I am eager to return to tutoring the SAT/ACT as it has become an expertise of mine in the last few years. I have tutored or instructed around 1400 total hours between 3 companies and some private clients. I have taught numerous SAT Prep classes including a Digital SAT class; however, most of these hours are 1 on 1 tutoring. I specialize in Mathematics, but I have over 1200 hours teaching all sections of these standardized tests. I have taught over 100 students and average around a 5 point increase in ACT scores and 150 points in SAT scores for these students. I have experience tutoring the digital SAT and created curriculum for both the new English section and Math section.

At Temple University, I graduated with a Professional Science Masters with the focus Educational Psychology. There were numerous courses that adapted how I approach teaching: Motivation in Education, Development and Learning Over the Lifespan, and Tests and Measurements. I am constantly reading research on education and how it is applicable to standardized tests. Vygotsky’s theory of the Zone of Proximal Development is a favorite of mine and can be applied to how tutors can greatly affect students’ testing and ability to consume knowledge. I have an ardent stance on learning and teaching, and I am always looking to grow. I also try to implement Dweck’s Growth Mindset Theory not only in my personal life but in my student’s academic endeavors as well. I took Calculus 3 and a Calculus applied Economics class in Undergraduate for electives, and I also did my Undergraduate Senior Marketing Analytics Capstone Project on the company Mathnasium. Education has always been a passion of mine, and the passion for it is deeply rooted in who I am as a person.

ACT Math

ACT Math

I scored a 35 on my ACT Math Section and since than I have furthered my knowledge on all math subjects. I want to help your son or daughter achieve whatever score he or she desires!
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

3 years at Mathnasium teaching Algebra 1 and 2 along with all math subjects up to Calculus 1. Scored a 35 on the Math ACT and 760 on SAT 1 and 2 Subject Tests which contain a lot of algebra 1.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

Algebra 2 is strongly built on Algebra 1 concepts so it is important to have a strong foundation of both. With my experience being that I have taken Calculus 1, 2, and 3 I have utilized my knowledge of Algebra 2 for many classes. I have taught Algebra 2 for the past 5 years, private tutoring as well as having around 20 students at a time at Mathnasium learning this subject.
Common Core

Common Core

I have taught common core for the past 3 years. Although numerous people disagree with the concept that the answer is wrong unless you find it this way, it is based on the concept of teaching math logically and not based off memorization techniques. Common core affects mostly 6th grade and under but if the skills are taught than these students will be much faster and understand harder concepts with ease. I want to help your son or daughter how to successful learn and utilize these techniques and make Math fun for him or her!
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

I love teaching this age group. The kids can be more energetic than high schoolers but this is a vital period in a child's life to learn math! I always try to come up with fun ways to teach information. I am very familiar with common core. I have taught about 1250 hours at Mathnasium for ages 5 through 12 years old and greatly enjoy working with this age group.
Geometry

Geometry

I have taught Geometry for 2.5 years at a math learning center called Mathnasium. I know many tricks to memorizing the rules concerning circles (there are upwards of 20 in geometry although not all classes cover this many) I also have great tricks for trig rules as well. I strive for conceptual and logical understanding as well as utilizing memorization techniques once umderstanding is achieved. I love teaching geometry, it is one of the harder math subjects in my opinion because it does not build as much on past and future knowledge as much as algebra so I feel that it is a lost art.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

One of my favorite subjects to teach. The majority of my part time job at Mathnasium is working with students ranging from 5th to 8th grade. I practice these topics 5 days a week and have an extremely strong familiarity with this topic as well as different techniques used to teach students which allows me to use different approaches to help the student understand.
Precalculus

Precalculus

Precalculus is aimed to build a strong foundation for higher level math. I have hundreds of hours of experience tutoring this subject. Some Precalculus classes are the first time students are faced with easy to advanced trig problems. I have many tricks for memorizing trig equations as well as the unit circle which will be a vital component for checking your work, completing problems quickly or without help from a calculator, and to further your conceptual understanding of the course.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I scored a 760 on both Math SAT Subject tests which are said to be harder than the actual math section so I can definitely help you achieve the score you want!
Trigonometry

Trigonometry

I have tutored Trig along with Geometry and PreCalculus which have many Trigonometry concepts for an afterschool mathematics learning center for the past 3 years. I have very clever ways to learn trig rules and the unit circle. Depending on your class you may need to memorize only 3-10 equations or be expected to memorize upwards of 30. I know many different ways to answer trigonometry questions and how you can double check your work!

Knowledgeable and Responsive Math Tutor

My daughter just started working with Mary as an Algebra II tutor. My daughter finds Mary to be very knowledgeable and she has been able to explain the mathematical concepts involved very clearly. Mary has also been very responsive and gotten back to us quickly about scheduling and any other questions we have had.
