I am a learning specialist with a background in general and special education (Masters from Bank Street College of Education) and a decade of experience as an educator and leader in a Brooklyn, NY school for students with learning disabilities. I have also worked as an adjunct instructor to graduate students studying to be teachers. Hi! I am a learning specialist with a background in general and special education (Masters from Bank Street College of Education) and a decade of experience as an educator and leader in a Brooklyn, NY school for students with learning disabilities. I have also worked as an adjunct instructor to graduate students studying to be teachers. As a learning specialist/tutor, I work with students in 3rd-9th grade in math, and with students of all ages (including adults) in writing, English, executive functioning and study skills. I work with both struggling students who need significant remedial support as well as students looking for enrichment and a new challenge. I have been tutoring for more than 15 years.

My approach is to keep things light and fun, to get to know my students well, incorporate what they love into our work together, and find creative ways to teach challenging material. I am experienced in reading and utilizing IEPs in designing appropriate supports and will work with parents to set goals and communicate progress. My students with learning struggles often stay working with me for many years as I am receptive and attentive to their individual needs and provide the support they need to feel successful in school.
