Qualifications for “AP chemistry”

As a chemistry major, a thorough understanding of the theories and principles of molecular bond formation and common mechanisms of organic chemistry reactions was requisite. Identifying that I was a person whom could reach out to fellow classmates struggling with topics, I was appointed to TA undergraduate organic chemistry for 2 years where I was responsible for the instructing a lab section of 30-60 students which furthered my educating experience. In my senior year, I was involved in primary research developing reaction schemes to generate estrogen analogues for drug screening trials. These responsibilities required drawing on my strong understanding of organic reactions and physically applying them in the lab to generate compounds.

My teaching experience in organic chemistry was furthered upon entering graduate school for a further two years. Here I gained advanced insight into the reasoning behind organic chemistry principles tough in undergraduate organic chemistry while being exposed to state of the art methods and technologies in organic molecule synthesis.

As a Biochemistry PhD research associate at Columbia University, I draw on these skill sets every day to conduct research but still have a strong desire to reach out and educate all persons ranging from high school to medical students studying the principles of general and organic chemistry. My proven track record of successfully helping students demonstrates that with the right approach, everyone can be successful their chemistry courses.
