I am a professional tutor specializing in test preparation aimed at achieving elite scores. I earned a perfect SAT score and a 99+ percentile LSAT score and have successfully taught SAT and LSAT prep for Kaplan and The Princeton Review. I love teaching and the tremendous rewards of helping my students gain confidence and enthusiasm, break through blocks, and earn fantastic scores and grades.

I graduated from Yale and Columbia Law School with highest honors, and am an alum of Hunter College High School in New York City. I've analyzed my own study and test-taking techniques as well as the methods taught and recommended by several test prep organizations and publishers to understand the variety of techniques that can be effective to improve scores. I work with students to select and develop their best techniques from amongst all available to us.

Patience, good humor, understanding, persistence, and faith in my students' abilities are key components of my teaching approach. We will shape our lessons to focus on your specific needs and learning style, and strive to equip you both for your immediate test prep objectives and more broadly as a student who can take on anything thanks to your superior study and work habits.

I offer lessons in my building in New Rochelle as well as home lessons throughout Westchester, Rockland, and New York City. My rate for lessons in New Rochelle (posted above) is more modest than those of many elite test prep tutors in order to help bring high performance within reach of a much broader spectrum of students. My home lesson rates vary depending upon location and timing.

Simply outstanding!

Trevor works with two of our children on test prep. They each have very different learning styles and approaches to their work. He is fabulous with both. He has a clear philosophy and methods which he crisply articulates. This is very helpful to me as a parent and to my children. He sets high expectations yet at same time is very positive and sees where each student comes from. His communication skills are unbelievable. He can explain the thinking behind any reading, grammar, or math problem. So he both coaches and teaches. Trevor inspired such a high level of confidence in my daughter that she wasn't the slightest bit nervous entering the testing room. His coaching and methods get results, i.e., hundreds of points of improvement. I would recommend him to anyone and well beyond test prep. We communicate mostly via email and I receive quick responses.

Great Tutor

Trevor tutored my 16 year old son for the SATs. His two hours were very challenging and my son received excellent instruction from him. His scores improved to 2100 combined on his first SAT as a junior. He is continuing to have sessions with Trevor and the ability to schedule individual hours is incredibly helpful, as my son is so busy that he could never have attended a weekly structured class. Trevor is much a sought after tutor, so schedule well ahead! Update: My son took the SATs a second time and got his score up to 2190 (superscored.) We felt he had worked hard enough. When fall came around, my son applied Early Action to his dream school, MIT, and was admitted!!! There are so many parts to getting accepted but having the right SATs is important, and we owe many thanks to Trevor H!
