Hey, I’m Andreas! I specialize in 1-on-1 private math tutoring sessions, where my focus is working with students to make topics feel intuitive and straightforward. In my education, I had amazing math teachers who always made topics feel easy. Hey, I’m Andreas! I specialize in 1-on-1 private math tutoring sessions, where my focus is working with students to make topics feel intuitive and straightforward. In my education, I had amazing math teachers who always made topics feel easy. However, many people have the opposite experience, struggling with teachers who are confusing and communicate ideas in complicated ways. The difficulty of any subject depends as much on the teacher as on the material, and my goal is to help students experience math education in the same way I did.

I have 4+ years of experience in tutoring math for middle-school, high-school, and college students, and I’ve covered a wide range of subjects, including Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, SAT Math, Statistics, and Calculus. All of my experience has been in a 1-on-1 environment, and I’ve gotten very comfortable with this format, which offers excellent learning advantages for students. In all my sessions, I try to have a dialogue with my student, which enables me to pinpoint the holes in their understanding, explain things in different ways, and collaborate with them to develop an intuitive grasp of the ideas they are learning.

In terms of educational qualifications, I have a M.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Columbia University and a B.E. in Biomedical Engineering from SUNY Stony Brook University. My experience in engineering has featured both the learning and application of varied mathematical subjects, including Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus, Differential Equations, Statistics, Computational Math, etc. Additionally, in High School I received perfect scores of 800 on the SAT Math section and on the (now-discontinued) SAT Math II subject test, as well as a 5 on the AP Calculus BC exam.

Thanks for reading - I look forward to working with you!

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I have over 4 years of experience in teaching this topic to high school students. I also have B.E. and M.S. degrees in Biomedical Engineering, both of which I obtained while making frequent use of my Algebra knowledge and skills. Additionally, while in high school, I obtained perfect scores of 800 on the SAT Math section and on the (now discontinued) SAT Math II Subject Test, both of which contain a significant amount of Algebra content.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I have over 4 years of experience in teaching this topic to high school students. I also have B.E. and M.S. degrees in Biomedical Engineering, both of which I obtained while making frequent use of my Algebra knowledge and skills. Additionally, while in high school, I obtained perfect scores of 800 on the SAT Math section and on the (now discontinued) SAT Math II Subject Test, both of which contain a significant amount of Algebra content.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

I have tutored Pre-Algebra directly for about a year, and I have over 4 years of experience in covering similar topics for students in High School math courses. Pre-Algebra teaches the core concepts that form the foundation for High School math and beyond. I’ve become very comfortable talking about and teaching these ideas, not only through direct experience, but also indirect experience, as they show up throughout many of the other topics I cover, from Algebra to Geometry to Statistics.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I received a score of 800 on the SAT Math section, as well as an 800 on the (now-discontinued) SAT Math II subject test. I have tutored the SAT Math section for several years and have, in the past year, begun teaching students for the now-digital format. Most of my students have gone on to receive scores of 700+ on the exam. I also have B.E. and M.S. degrees in Biomedical Engineering, both of which required me to make frequent use of many math skills tested on the SAT.

Andreas was thorough and did a great job explaining the work.

Andreas worked with my son on Algebra 2. My son completed the lesson with a thorough understanding of the material after the session. Andreas was good at explaining the work, patient and very competent with the material. We will definitely schedule more lessons with him in the future.
