I am a native Chinese speaker with a deep passion for helping students bridge the gap between complex logic and practical understanding. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Buffalo, where I developed a rigorous technical foundation. During my time at the university, I was selected to serve as a Teaching Assistant for the Algorithms course. In this role, I discovered my ability to break down difficult programming concepts into manageable steps, using Python as my primary tool for instruction and development. My experience as a TA allowed me to work closely with students from various backgrounds, helping them debug their logic and gain confidence in their coding abilities.
My approach to tutoring mathematics is rooted in the strong academic foundation I built growing up in the Chinese education system, where I consistently excelled in Algebra and advanced mathematics. I believe that Algebra 1 and 2 are the building blocks for all future STEM success, and I focus on ensuring students understand the "why" behind the formulas rather than just memorizing them. Having achieved top marks throughout my math education, I am now dedicated to helping American students master these subjects with the same clarity and precision. I tailor my methods to each student’s individual learning style, whether they are visual learners or prefer hands-on problem-solving.
In addition to STEM subjects, I offer native-level instruction in Chinese. Because I am a native speaker, I can provide students with an authentic understanding of the language, ranging from proper pronunciation to cultural nuances. Whether I am teaching a programming language like Python, a mathematical concept in Algebra, or Mandarin Chinese, my goal is always to create a patient and encouraging environment. I have experience working with students of various ages in both one-on-one and classroom settings, and I am committed to helping my students achieve their academic goals and develop a genuine love for learning.
