I am an experienced, patient and friendly tutor with 14 years of teaching experience, including K-12 students, college and graduate students, and life-long adult learners. I have also worked in "big tech" for the last 9 years, as User Experience Researcher at Amazon and Google.

I received my PhD in Anthropology at the University of Michigan and spent over a decade teaching and mentoring college students there. Subjects I taught included Biology, History, Anthropology, and Upper Level Writing and Research Methods. I received excellent student reviews for all my classes and served as Graduate Student Mentor for new Teaching Instructors in the Anthropology department.

In addition to teaching at the university, I have many years of experience with private tutoring, both one-to-one and with small groups of students. I have achieved excellent results with standardized test preparation, essay writing, college application help, research papers, and professional development and mentoring. I have also mentored many junior User Experience researchers and designers while working professionall
Additionally, I am fully bilingual in English and Russian and have professional experience teaching both English and Russian to children and adult learners. My ESL students included children as young as 7, as well as corporate clients studying Business English for work. My philosophy for language teaching is that language classes should always be fun and engaging, as well as informative: there is never any reason to be bored while learning a language!

While doing my graduate work, I served as Assistant Editor for an academic journal, Comparative Studies in Society and History, where I reviewed and edited submitted manuscripts on a daily basis. I am well familiar with different formatting styles (APA, MLA, CMS) and I can provide help with all stages of writing, including organization, composition, copy editing, proofreading, etc.
