I have had a love for math since a very young age; my dad is a math professor and got me interested in the subject very young. I attended math, science, and computer science magnet programs both in middle and high school, and continued on to study math at Columbia University (have also continued taking CS courses). I have had a love for math since a very young age; my dad is a math professor and got me interested in the subject very young. I attended math, science, and computer science magnet programs both in middle and high school, and continued on to study math at Columbia University (have also continued taking CS courses). In the summers of 2015 and 2016 I participated in research programs in math. I graduated from Columbia this May, and then completed a Master's in Mathematics at Georgia Tech. I've since applied my math background to an applied setting ; I've been working as a Data Scientist for 5 years now.

My first experience in tutoring was assisting students in preparation for the Maryland High School Assessment in 9th grade, which I continued to do throughout high school. In 12th grade, I taught advanced 5th and 6th graders as part of the Art of Inquiry math circle in Maryland, creating a curriculum and homework assignments myself. I continued to tutor while at Columbia, helping students in high school math courses. I was a Teaching Assistant at Georgia Tech, and construct lesson plans for a class of 30 students to reinforce material they have seen in lecture. I am most excited when I see a student gain a better big picture understanding / new appreciation of the subject. I have tutored in many forms, from preparing from tests to teaching students new topics to expand their breadth of knowledge.

ACT Math

ACT Math

I earned a 36 on thje ACT Math (36 overall). I also earned a 800 on SAT Math, and both math subject tests. I have extensive study of subject areas tested on ACT math : Algebra from middle school to college level, and Geometry at middle school , high school, and Olympiad problem solving levels.
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I recieved an A in Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus. I also received an A in Theoretical Algebra at College Level. I have tutored 5 students previously in Algebra 1.
Calculus

Calculus

I have earned A's in Calculus from the AP level, to the level of Honors Math at Columbia (Linear Algebra together with Calculus 3-4). I got a 5 on the AP Calculus exam, and recently performed well on the GRE Mathematics Subject test, which focuses heavily on Calculus. I have since taken more advanced calculus courses, such as Differential Manifolds and Complex Analysis, and have performed research into open problems in math.
Linear Algebra

Linear Algebra

I've earned A's in Linear Algebra at multiple levels, from high-school introductory to honors college level at Columbia University. Moreover, I've used knowledge from Linear Algebra beyond these courses - from other coursework like Fourier Analysis to Differential Manifolds, to undergraduate research into Discrete Geometry. Overall, I have in-depth knowledge of the subject from years of coursework, and know how to apply, as proved through my research. In fact, I have previously tutored a student in an introductory course on the subject, using T.M. Apostol's textbook "Linear Algebra".
Russian

Russian

I am a native Russian speaker - my parents both speak it, and I spent extensive time living in Russia as a child. I can speak, read, and write. In high school, I scored a 5 on a prototype AP Russian sponsored by American Councils. More recently, I took a class on Russian poetry which was entirely in Russian - I wrote essays and took exams in the language.
Tennis

Tennis

I started playing tennis at age 7, and was playing about 4-5 days a week from age 13-18. I was the captain of my high school tennis team, and competed as a top singles player in my county, Montgomery County, MD. I was also a high ranked player in the Mid-Atlantic region of the USTA. I am now 21, and continue to regularly play casually and compete in league play. I have learned a lot about how to teach the game from watching the sport, and from instruction from my private coach of 10 years. I have taught little kids before, and am excited to expand my base of customers and continue to build up my teaching experience.
