I have had a love for math since a very young age; my dad is a math professor and got me interested in the subject very young. I attended math, science, and computer science magnet programs both in middle and high school, and continued on to study math at Columbia University (have also continued taking CS courses). In the summers of 2015 and 2016 I participated in research programs in math. I graduated from Columbia this May, and then completed a Master's in Mathematics at Georgia Tech. I've since applied my math background to an applied setting ; I've been working as a Data Scientist for 5 years now.
My first experience in tutoring was assisting students in preparation for the Maryland High School Assessment in 9th grade, which I continued to do throughout high school. In 12th grade, I taught advanced 5th and 6th graders as part of the Art of Inquiry math circle in Maryland, creating a curriculum and homework assignments myself. I continued to tutor while at Columbia, helping students in high school math courses. I was a Teaching Assistant at Georgia Tech, and construct lesson plans for a class of 30 students to reinforce material they have seen in lecture. I am most excited when I see a student gain a better big picture understanding / new appreciation of the subject. I have tutored in many forms, from preparing from tests to teaching students new topics to expand their breadth of knowledge.
