Hi, I'm Adam! I graduated from Columbia University, and have ten years experience as a TA, tutor, and consultant for data analysis.

I love math and science, I think it's endlessly fascinating how this stuff can model and explain the world. I also love to share these insights with my students. I am an especially good match for students who are curious about these subjects and motivated to learn.

Most of my students attend college; because they are more mature, my tutor meetings are less structured, and more open to however the student prefers to work. Often that means that my students come prepared with questions that they would like to ask about their class material. I am also happy to make additional exercise sets, upon request. But I do not help a student to learn study skills or keep organized -- I only offer the service of answering math and science questions.

For in-person tutoring I have helped students at, Georgia Tech, Georgia State, Kennesaw State, Fulton Science Academy, Alpharetta High School, Lambert High School, and Innovation Academy. I can meet in-person at any of those locations, although depending on distance, I may need to charge a travel fee.

Computer

C,

C

I took the U.C. Berkeley course CS61C on computer organization for a summer semester. This course is taught in C and assumes a strong background in C. Moreover, it uses C to perform low-level programming with memory allocation, pointers, pointers to pointers, structures (i.e. structs), and make files.
Computer Programming,

Computer Programming

I have tutored programming and intro computer science about 50 times in the past. My strongest background is in Java, Python, OCaml, and Haskell. I am familiar with the content of the high school advanced placement tests, both AP computer science principles, and computer science A. I've also tutored some students in the languages Hazel (UMich), ML, and Scheme, so I have some familiarity with these languages, although not as much experience as I have with other functional languages like OCaml and Haskell.
Computer Science,

Computer Science

I've tutored introductory computer science and object-oriented design, in Python and Java, for students at Columbia, NYU, and the University of Pennsylvania. I've also tutored several high school students in AP computer science A, using the Java and Scheme languages. I've tutored discrete mathematics for students at Columbia (COMS W3203), Harvard (CS 20), Cornell (CS 2800), and UPenn (MATH 3400 and 3401). I've tutored algorithms and data structures for students at UPenn and Cornell. I've tutored functional programming in OCaml and Haskell for students at UPenn (CIS 1200), Harvard, Cornell (CS 3110), Stanford (CS 242), and Boston College. I've tutored theoretical computer science, also called theory of computation, with automata and complexity theory. My students were at Columbia, Harvard, Cornell, University of Washington, University of Houston, and UPenn. I've tutored computer organization for one student at the University of California, Berkeley. This used the language C and the RISC-V instruction set. I have also recently studied automated theorem proving in the Coq system, which is developed in OCaml. I may be willing to tutor this topic, but please be aware that I am not yet an expert in it.
Java,

Java

I've tutored introductory programming, the Advanced Placement (AP) course, and a course in Algorithms, using the Java language. The courses I've tutored have focused on object-oriented, contract-styled design patterns. One one such was taught with Ocaml in conjunction with Java to demonstrate the difference between object-oriented design and functional design.
Python,

Python

I've tutored Python a dozen or more times for high school and college students, using its imperative and object-oriented programing capacities.
HTML, JavaScript

Corporate Training

Java,

Java

I've tutored introductory programming, the Advanced Placement (AP) course, and a course in Algorithms, using the Java language. Knowledgeable

Adam is an outstanding tutor in computer science and math. He is patient, knowledgeable and professional. He is amazing with multiple programming languages and algorithm implementation. He knows the subjects so well and knows how to explain it.

Dennison, 3 lessons with Adam

Can identify and teach in your learning style

I have been working with Adam on a wide range of subjects, and am focused now on logic. Adam is highly proficient in his areas of expertise. As such, he was able to identify my learning style and the concepts that I needed to further my understanding of the material. Furthermore, he is able to relay those concepts in a way that makes sense to me. What I like most about our sessions is that, Adam strikes me as a life-long learner. This quality leads to rich discussions that incorporate concepts from multiple disciplines.

Proactive and knowledgable tutor in advanced geometry! Would recommend

Adam is a very responsible and diligent tutor that my daughter and I would 100 percent recommend. She is taking High School Honors Geometry and needed a bit of help in understanding the abstract concepts. Prior to the lesson, Adam reviewed the textbook that we sent to him and wrote up answers to the questions that my daughter asked to review. He is the most knowledgable on abstract Euclidean geometry among all the tutors we contacted before finding him. During the lesson, my daughter says he made sure she understood everything by asking questions, and was very patient with her when she didn't completely understand something. Adam has a very positive and proactive attitude. Overall, we have had an amazing experience with Adam and will continue to have lessons with him in the future. Thanks Adam!!

He was very helpful

Adam helped our daughter very much with a CIS 120 class. I do not have details but she was most appreciative. He was knowledgeable, based on experience with the same course that she is taking currently.

Cynthia , 3 lessons with Adam

Awesome tutor.

Always thoughtful and disciplined in his teaching method. Also, makes the lesson interesting. Adam helps me understanding the material and prepare well for my exams. I highly recommended him.

Nancy, 28 lessons with Adam

Knowledgeable tutor

Adam is very helpful and resourceful. He is quick at solving problems. We discussed how to find an optimum in a data structure, in particular how to find the largest element of a list. We used that broad solution strategy to solve a harder problem, finding the maximum quantity one can purchase given an item menu and budget. We also implemented a very simple search algorithm, and discussed some basic solutions to analyzing stock data including the search for outliers, the computation of lag price differentials, and testing for equality with the return rate.
