Daisy is a recent graduate of Barnard College, where she earned her degree in Film Studies after transferring from UCLA’s School of Theater, Film, and Television with a 4.0 GPA. With firsthand experience navigating the college admissions process twice, Daisy brings a deep understanding of both the structure and purpose of college essays.

Daisy is a recent graduate of Barnard College, where she earned her degree in Film Studies after transferring from UCLA’s School of Theater, Film, and Television with a 4.0 GPA. With firsthand experience navigating the college admissions process twice, Daisy brings a deep understanding of both the structure and purpose of college essays.

She has over two of experience working one-on-one with high school seniors on their college application essays and academic essays. Her coaching style blends big-picture storytelling guidance with detail-oriented editing, drawing from her background as a Sundance and South by Southwest Filmmaker. Daisy emphasizes idea development, clear structure, and precise grammar and punctuation to help each student find and refine their authentic voice.

A nationally recognized writer, Daisy is the recipient of three National Scholastic Writing Awards and two screenwriting honors from festivals in Nebraska and Washington. Her films have played at Sundance, SXSW, NewFest, Frameline, Outfest, and more. Students she has coached have gone on to earn admission to top programs including Haverford College, Loyola Marymount University, and The American Musical and Dramatic Academy.

As a Barnard College graduate with a background in Film Studies and writing, I specialize in helping writers develop strong, vivid fiction through deep character work, compelling plot structure, and authentic voice. As an award-winning filmmaker and experienced storyteller, I understand how to craft narratives that resonate emotionally and thematically. I work closely with writers at all levels to refine their ideas, enhance pacing, and sharpen dialogue, ensuring their stories engage readers from start to finish. My coaching is collaborative and tailored to each writer’s unique style and goals. The films I have written have screened at Sundance, South by Southwest, and have won writing awards at the National Film Festival For Talented Youth and the Omaha Film Festival

Daisy Friedman is an award-winning filmmaker and writer with a degree in Film Studies from Barnard College. Her work has screened at prestigious festivals including Sundance and SXSW, and often explores themes of chronic illness, identity, and intimacy through a lens of dark comedy and emotional truth. She wrote and directed the short film As You Are, which screened at over 30 festivals and won more than 10 awards. Currently developing multiple features and pilot projects, including Unholy, a dramedy set during a Jewish family Seder. Daisy brings a rare and personal perspective to her storytelling as a triple-organ transplant recipient.
