I am a certified math teacher who loves to work one-on-one to help understand each individual child. Everyone thinks and works differently. The key is figuring out "your" way and for me to teach you in that way. Together we will discover what topics you are having trouble with. We will work on those topics as well as the current topics you need help with. We will work together for you to develop the tools and skills to problem solve in the future.

Fran was very helpful to my son who has been struggling with algebra II. The distance might be an issue for future appointments. Thanks for help with the work yesterday. He had a more solid understanding even after only 1 meeting. Thanks!
I have a busy 8 year old and Fran is so patient with her as she helps her better understand math. The best review I can give is from my daughter who says that Fran makes math fun.
Fran started working with my daughter last Oct as she was struggling with geometry. Fran immediately clicked with my daughter and helped build her confidence with the subject matter. Fran also helped close gaps and created a plan to get her back on track. My daughter is now pulling As and Bs, and has improved significantly over the last 4 months.
Fran is incredibly patient with my son who sometimes has a hard time focusing. They are "clicking" and my son enjoys the lessons.
My son's understanding of the Common Core Algebra curriculum has greatly improved since his tutoring sessions with Fran. She listens and is easy to understand. She is very encouraging and put my son at ease. I would gladly send anyone who needed help with Common Core math issues her way. Great job!!!
Fran has gone above-and-beyond of what I expected. She is patient and continues to work with me so that I can meet deadlines.
Fran has done a great job in connecting with my son who is easily distracted. He looks forward to the sessions and Fran is very patient with him.
We have been extremely fortunate to find Fran V through WyzAnt. My 14 year old son had been struggling with his first year of Algebra, and was beginning to fail all of his tests. Fran responded quickly to my request for a tutor, and I was very impressed with her response. She made herself readily available to start working with him. I saw an immediate improvement in my son's grades and in his confidence. I was thrilled when he came home with a 92 on his last test! Fran has a very patient positive way of working with kids, and has been able to teach my son in a way that he has responded to. She is flexible with her time, and made herself available the night before a test or quiz to review with him. Fran's knowledge of Math and her excellence at teaching a child who may learn a little differently, makes her a great choice to help someone who is struggling with Algebra.
I'm a first time user of this service. I had quite a few applicants wanting to tutor my middle schooler. They had great reviews and a lot of experience. I have no idea how I ended up choosing her, but I'm very satisfied that I did. Very professional, and patient. My student is in her area, I'm currently stationed in Texas. She emails me what they went over, and has a cool program that records what is learned so my student can reference at a later time. Long story short, if you need a tutor, and her name comes up for your area, get her. She is awesome.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am currently a math teacher as my second career but prior to this I was a computer programmer for 14 years. I was a mainframe programmer and I worked with machine language. Every language has its own syntax and once you have the basics and analytical thinking, you can master any language. I can help you master any computer language too.
I teach a technology course for high schoolers.
I have tutored for the following NYS Regents' Integrated Algebra, Geometry, and Algebra 2/Trigonometry.
The regents differ from year to year. So we never know exactly what will be on the exam but there are "favorite" questions that are asked every year and I know which ones they are. For this past Integrated Algebra regents I reviewed every single one of those type questions resulting in a student I tutored passing it for the first time after more than 2 attempts! The first thing she said when she called me was, "we did all those questions together!" She was very excited. Her mom said she made the right choice in hiring me to tutor her daughter.
