My background has equipped me to work with a wide variety of students. I taught English for six years to undergraduates at the Scuola di Economia e Commercio, Università degli Studi di Pisa (Italy). I taught English at the elementary school and tutored high school students in English in the small country town where we lived.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I have been a licensed teacher in Nevada and Kansas and taught special education students, from kindergarten to 12th grade. I have taught students with specific learning disabilities, attention deficit disorders, developmental delays, autism spectrum disorders, emotional disturbances, and physical impairments. As a special education teacher I developed the students' individualized educational plans, adapted or designed teaching materials, and used a variety of instructional approaches to meet their individual needs.
