Bonjour! I'm Lynni, and I have taught French at the University of Nevada - Reno for over 20 years. At UNR, I have taught all levels of Introductory and Intermediate French, plus French Conversation and French for Business. I emphasize the four aspects of language learning (speaking, reading, writing, comprehension) and I include French Culture in my lessons. Bonjour! I'm Lynni, and I have taught French at the University of Nevada - Reno for over 20 years. At UNR, I have taught all levels of Introductory and Intermediate French, plus French Conversation and French for Business. I emphasize the four aspects of language learning (speaking, reading, writing, comprehension) and I include French Culture in my lessons. I have also tutored adults, high school and college students for over 15 years and tailor my lessons to students' specific needs, recognizing that some students may need more emphasis on grammar and composition, while others need more oral practice. My general approach for first-time learners of French is very similar to learning a musical instrument - we start slowly then gradually increase the pace as students' proficiency improves. For other students who already have some knowledge of French, my teaching centers on identifying specific problems they may be having and getting them focused help where they need it. I have also helped students prepping for the AP and/or IB exams in high school.

Having lived in France, Switzerland and Quebec for eight years, my level of French is native and I hold multiple degrees from McGill University (B.S.) and the University of Nevada - Reno (M.B.A., B.A. French and M.A. French).

Students have consistently appreciated my teaching style in French as I am very enthusiastic about the language and culture. I also try to make grammar concepts easier for students to learn by showing them where French syntax is similar to the English language, where it is completely different, and helping them devise ways to remember.

My teaching evaluations at UNR over the course of 25 years have been uniformly excellent, and I was the recipient of the College of Liberal Arts Dean's Outstanding Teaching Award twice over the last decade.

Knowledgeable and excited tutor.

Lynni is always so excited to work with you and teach anything you may need to learn! She makes the environment a really fun one to be in and it feels like learning with a friend. I 1000% recommend Lynni!

Very Dedicated and Knowledgeable Tutor!

Ms. Lynni helped my son (in HS) prepare for his upcoming French 5 test (reading and listening). We're so grateful for Lynni. She helped my daughter last-minute with French grammar for an upcoming test. In class--Beginning French--the professor teaches grammar in French. If you don't know French yet, this is really hard! When you're tested on it, it' impossible:) Lynni took the time to help my daughter understand.
