About Joshua

I am a physicist for the United States Air Force and aspire to be a teacher. I have coached young children in wrestling and tutored informally in high school and college. Working with children and peers has given me the patience it takes to help students succeed. I look forward to helping students learn.

I have knowledge of math from Pre-K to College level math. I have a bachelor's degree in physics from the united states air force academy and getting it was a struggle so I now how students feel when they don't get in on their first try.

I am passionate about helping students build proficiency and confidence in their own ability. I know how helpful it is to have a teacher believe in you even if you do not believe in yourself.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

I graduated from the United States Air Force Academy with a Bachelor's in Physics. I received a 33 on the math portion of the ACT. I received tutoring for it so I have a grasp on how to help other students replicate my success.

Algebra 1

I received a Bachelor's in Physics from the United States Air Force Academy. I have excelled in math all through school and have tutored friends in the subject since middle school. I usually gauge the students current grasp of the course material and then address any misconceptions. Then I move to example problems and practice problems to build their skill set. Then I let them do a few problems completely on their own and then I evaluate their progress. If that method doesn't work I vary the learning techniques and see what works best for the student.

Great Tutor

Josh is a great tutor, he is patient and thorough. We have only had a few lessons with him and so far my son has made great strides in his math class. We could not be happier.
