Caltech Student with Fresh Experience in SAT, AP, AMC, and AIME

Hi, I’m Jack! I will be attending Caltech as an undergraduate this fall, majoring in physics. I bring recent firsthand experience with advanced courses and standardized tests. I have completed classes such as Calculus III, Linear Algebra, and First Order Logic, and have recently taken the SAT, AMC, and AIME exams. I’m familiar with the full range of high school math and physics topics—from AP Precalculus to AP Physics C—and am comfortable tutoring across these subjects.

Through my tutoring experience, I’ve learned that teaching and learning are distinct skills. Knowing a subject doesn’t always mean you can help others understand it. This insight shapes my approach, which focuses on patience, clear explanations, and tailoring lessons to each student’s needs. I developed these skills while helping run a math club for 6th to 8th graders preparing for MATHCOUNTS, where I assisted students in breaking down challenging problems into manageable steps. Additionally, as a member of my high school’s tutoring club, I supported students through 12th grade in various AP courses.

My goal is to help students build a strong conceptual foundation by encouraging critical thinking and problem-solving instead of memorization. Having recently taken many of these exams, I’m familiar with effective strategies and tools: like using Desmos for SAT math problems or visualizing projectile motion to understand physics concepts intuitively. I strive to provide relevant insights that not only help students succeed but also build their confidence.
