I started graduate school in July of 2014 and had searched for a tutor on WyzAnt. My first tutor that I worked with was not a great fit, however when I went through the data base again to find another tutor to meet my needs, Deirdre's name came up and right away I wrote her asking her if she was available to work with me. I have worked with Deirdre W for almost a year now and she is a very patient but tough tutor. Her toughness is to encourage you to do your best and to look at your weaknesses to see how to strengthen them. I would highly recommend Deirdre for any student who is committed to learning and improving study skills not only for school but for the next half of your academic life to carry you through to your future work life.

Deirdre is a great tutor! My son needed to master his writing skills, and Deirdre helped him to believe in his own abilities and step out of the "formal" writing habit. She teaches him how to became a creative writer and think "out of the box". From my son: "Deirdre teaches me differently from my other teachers and previous tutors. She doesn't stick to the old formality but lets me express my ideas and beliefs in the form of an essay or story. Ever since Deirdre became my tutor I was more able to think freely and creatively."

My son is already saying how much the tutoring is helping him get on track over the summer. He is more positive about his capabilities in approaching the new school year. He really likes "Miss Deirdre", and she works very hard in preparing materials that will specifically benefit him. This is impressive given how reluctant he has been to practice writing skills. She also has helped in developing ideas for his educational plan once he re-enters school in the fall. UPDATE: My son's teacher has noted how well his writing is progressing. He has gone up from a C- to a B+ between last spring and this fall. This was one of the wisest investments in our child's growth possible. Ms. Deirdre is truly in tune with his needs.

Great tutor - connected easily with our child!

Deirdre has been working with our child for about six weeks, and she has been immensely helpful in building structure for our son's summer. She immediately and easily built rapport with our son, which was critical in getting him to start in on the Orton Gillingham program. Deirdre was able to relate to his interests (sports, history) and engage him in a balanced fashion that keeps high focus progressing through their sessions. Our son is re-learning basic rules that have been taken for granted in the classroom but which he had not mastered. Deirdre communicates well with us as parents, and scheduling sessions has been easy. We appreciate the progress she is making with our son and are making arrangements to work with Deirdre during the school year.

Takes the Time to Work on the Basics

I am pleased that Deidre has taken the time to work with my granddaughter on the basics of grammar and sentence structure. I also believe that my granddaughter is finally putting everything together and it is all beginning to make sense to her as she puts it into practice during her writing.

Great Tutor, prepared, patient, and very professional

Ms. D, as my children call her, is a professional who "makes a difference". She's a great tutor who has helped my children immensely since we met her a year ago. My children have progressed from not knowing all the letters of the alphabet to reading their first books confidently within a year of hard - consistent work with Ms.D. The children enjoy the interesting and well planned classes she presents each week. My girls are both very enthusiastic about their classes each week. I'm very pleased with the results, even though when they first started I sincerely didn't see they would reach the stage they are in now.
