Rutgers University, New Brunswick (Chemistry)
Cornell University (Master's)
I have a very varied background and teaching experience. I hold a BA from Rutgers University where I graduated with High Honors and a MS in Chemistry from Cornell University. I started teaching after graduating, building on the teaching experience that I acquired while being a graduate student. Also I have worked at Educational Testing Services helping to prepare High School tests. I have over 7 years teaching experience in High School and have tutored SAT Chemistry, High School Chemistry and Honors Chemistry at several tutoring centers for the last 9 years. I have also helped with AP Chemistry. Through these years I have helped many students, both struggling students and honors students, to develop their own potential and confidence.
I also teach French: I have native fluency and graduated from a French High School with Honors before coming to the USA. I have much experience teaching French, having taught at the Alliance Française in Boston and also teaching French to private students of all ages for about ten years. I have also taught SAT French through a tutoring center.
Here is how one of my own private French student, Joan H. of Ridgewood, NJ feels about my French classes:
"Nicole is a great French teacher! She's a native French speaker and a trained and skilled teacher who prepares lessons to meet the student where she is. I've been studying French with her on a one-on-one basis for about five years. There is no question my French has improved significantly during our time together. She works on all aspects of learning a language: speaking, understanding, grammar, reading and conversation. She makes it lively and interesting by tailoring the class to my own interests. I highly recommend her."
Regarding Chemistry, I specialize in High School Chemistry, and SAT Chemistry. I am very patient and students feel comfortable asking questions. I strengthen problem solving techniques by teaching how to use their knowledge in order to solve problems. I try to develop the student's confidence in his ability to tackle the problem at hand. I adapt to the student's needs so as to help them to develop their own potential and confidence. Regarding French, I teach students and adults, at the beginner and intermediate levels. The teaching technique depends on the level and the age of the student. I often emphasize learning via a conversational style.
As a tutor I really enjoy feeling that I am helping my students and making a difference. I am looking forward to hearing from you. I have a very varied background and teaching experience. I hold a BA from Rutgers University where I graduated with High Honors and a MS in Chemistry from Cornell University. I started teaching after graduating, building on the teaching experience that I acquired while being a graduate student. Also I have worked at Educational Testing Services

Nicole is a great tutor, very helpful and knowledgeable. Olivia is full of confidence after working with Nicole. Never having used a tutor before, our daughter was hesitant to start, but immediately felt a connection with and found confidence in Nicole. Nicole did a great job of answering my daughter's questions on the material and reviewing everything that my daughter was uncertain about.
She is incredibly patient and is willing to make sure you understand every concept before moving on, no matter how long it takes. She always came prepared with so much material and took the time to go through everything. Nicole was totally reliable, accessible, organized and patient. I am sure we will be setting up more time with you as the Chemistry course gets harder. We are very happy with the lessons! I highly recommend her to anyone. Thanks so much for your help!
My daughter had her first chemistry lesson with Nicole. My daughter said Nicole is such a great tutor. Nicole's handwriting is so clear and neat. Her teaching is easy to understand. We feel we are so lucky to Nicole.
Nicole is helping my daughter with her Honors French. She is very knowledgeable, professional, reliable and patient. She always takes the time to explain in details and with all nuances how to use the new words, expressions and grammar. We highly recommend her.
Nicole is able to explain the subject in an effective way - I would recommend to anyone who needs help with chemistry and has a desire to achieve a better understanding of the subject material.
My first class with Nicole was fantastic.
She was professional but also friendly.
I felt very comfortable with her.She was on time. I believe that she will be able to help me reach my goal.
Thanks Ibelice. I'm so glad that you enjoyed your first French class!
Nicole answered quickly and was amazing !!!
She was very thorough and really explains concepts very well !! Nicole even wrote notes on what we were learning so that I can continue to study on my own !!
Nicole is great. We are planning to use her every week for this entire year. She is very knowledgeable in French and patient with my son. My son also likes Nicole.
Nicole was a very kind, knowledgable and responsible tutor. My daughter felt very comfortable with her. Would highly recommend her. She prepared my daughter for a chemistry test.
My daughter has been tutored by Nicole in chemistry for several weeks now. Her grade has improved as have her studying habits and grasp of the concepts. We highly recommend her!!!
Nicole has helped me with many areas in Chemistry, she explains things clearly and is very patient when someone does not understand a concept.
Nicole is teaching our 9 year old French. And we are very pleased how much our daughter enjoys the lessons and has learned already. Nicole uses in addition to books little games and songs to teach her. And she is making a little French book with her, what helps her to repeat the matirial. After a couple of lessons Nicole gives her a test to have a control on her progress. We are very happy we found her as she is a native speaker, patient, friendly and structured. We would highly recommend her to a friend.
What I especially liked about Nicole was that she gives you more than one approach to a problem. She will also go over the problem until you understand fully, and then make you attempt it yourself. I would definitely contact her again, and recommend her to others! Makes chemistry easy to understand.
Nicole worked very patiently with my daughter to explain a very difficult Chemistry concept. She was very thorough and really helped her understand Stoichiometry much better.
Nicole was able to help me with only hours of notice. She was patient and went over the steps thoroughly. Now it's time to put what I've learned to practice.
We worked on the verb "to be" as well as the verbs vouloir, pouvoir and devoir. Practiced previous lessons such as time, etc.
My son told me she is teaching at the rate of my son's understanding level with some patient. My son seem to like her because she goes into a directly to the points that he needs to understand and that makes him understand easier and quicker about the chemistry.
Nicole is a great tutor, she knows what she is talking about and explains the material very well. Nicole is very friendly and patient! Highly recommend!
Nicole is very knowledgeable with chemistry, great tutor uses time wisely, and knows how to explain using different methods all I can say is that she knows what she is doing
Nicole is very patient, extremely knowledgeable, and has a terrific accent. She reminds me very much, of my first French teacher in college. She taught me that I haven't forgotten all the French I learned many years ago--just the vast majority of it.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
