Hello prospective students! My name is Maya and I just graduated from Northwestern University in June. I have BS and BA degrees in communication sciences and disorders (hearing and speech sciences) and psychology with a strong background in SAT and ACT test prep. I was also on the pre-med track and am currently applying to medical school so I have strong foundations in the core sciences and math. I have been tutoring for over 7 years both online and in person. My experience ranges from students just entering kindergarten to college students, but most of my experience is teaching high school students.
Throughout my experience, I have found a true passion for teaching. I spent a gap year before college tutoring full time, where I honed my interactive teaching style and learned to tailor each lesson to my students’ learning styles. I was professionally trained in teaching K-12 math, language arts, science, and social studies as well as all sections of the SAT and ACT. I have taught hundreds of students and have succeeded in helping many improve their failing grades to As! My students consistently see improvements of over 300 points on the SAT and between 5 to 6 on the ACT. I have honed my skills through years of experience with both STEM and humanities coursework and my goal is to explain complex concepts in a way that is engaging, interactive, and fun.
