Learning math can be fun with a tutor who is knowledgeable, patient and has a sense of humor. With 100s of success stories, I can help you increase your confidence and and improve your scores., whether you are focused on your academic performance of a standardized test.

I love to help students improve their writing. I'm especially skilled at helping students find their own narratives in crafting compelling college admission essays. I have won prizes for my writing both in college and in professional writing competitions. Since I've begun tutoring, I've come to appreciate how good grammar and critical reading can result in effective and persuasive arguments. In addition, as a nationally ranked Scrabble Player, I have a strong vocabulary, having read the entire dictionary twice.

I've got a BS in Civil Engineering from MIT, an MBA from Columbia University and a PhD from NJIT. The editorial staff at NJIT said my doctoral dissertation was one of the most readable they ever saw; I have a talent for translating complicated concepts into common speech.

I've worked for years as a traffic engineer. For many people, math is academic. But for me, I have used math to solve real life problems. Math makes more sense when you understand both the how and the why.

SAT Math Score 800, Verbal 720, ACT Score 36, GRE 169 Quantitative, 168 Verbal
Doctorate in Transportation Engineering, Professional Engineer.
Math Professor, award winning writer for high school, college and continuing ed.

I know Math requires hard work, but there is nothing like the satisfaction of getting the right answer. If you are ready to work, let's do it together. Contact me for either after school or weekend sessions.

Great experience

My daughter came out of her session excited and enthused. She felt that she started to understand her lessons better. She is more comfortable with the subject as a result of the tutoring session.

She is very experienced in SAT prep

She taught math and strategy for SAT. She is very knowledgeable. I am glad that I selected her as my daughter's tutor. I like the way she teaches. I would suggest to my other friends too.

Gifted Statistician yet patient

To make a long story short, I was in dire need of a Statistics tutor after my original had a family emergency during final exam season. Luckily, I stumbled upon Cheryl. During our sessions, she was knowledgeable, patient and encouraging yet able to say she was unfamiliar with some information where she then went home and did her own homework on the subject. I am thoroughly pleased with the results I hope to work with her again soon.

Amazingly knowledgeable and patient!

I have met with Cheryl a number of times for GMAT tutoring. She is extremely knowledgeable of all the necessary skills needed to increase your score. She is also very patient when you have trouble understanding a concept. I highly recommend her tutoring services to students of all ages.

Finite Math

Cheryl was a good teacher, and really helped me with Finite Math. She was able to jump right in, and assist me with the homework topics that I wasn't able to fully understand on my own. If you need help with Finite Math, she can definitely help you learn the concepts better!

Great Calculus Tutor!

Cheryl has been tutoring my high school senior in Calculus for about a month now. In that time my daughter brought her grade from barely passing at mid-parking period to a “B” by the end of the marking period. My daughter is finally back on track and we will continue to use Cheryl. The extra help is really making a difference!
