Hi guys! My name is Marco, and I am a newly college graduate from Seton Hall University majoring in Biology for pre-med, hoping to go into the medical field! In Seton Hall and prior to college, I have tutored a variety of subjects, ranging from elementary to college-level mathematics, chemistry, biology, writing, psychology, and history. In Seton Hall I have worked as a class-sized Teaching Assistant, tutoring large review sessions after classes, as well as a one-on-one Tutor within student residence halls. I have worked for them for 3 years and done volunteer tutoring work outside and in my high school.
While tutoring students I like to first get to know the student. I find that building rapport is what allows students to break out of their comfort shells and be more willing to ask the difficult questions they are afraid to ask. Once I get a sense of the person in front of me, I assess their fundamental knowledge to find a baseline to work with. I utilize a variety of resources, including online whiteboards, videos, my own practice tests tailored to the student, and games. My goal is not to teach, but to enable my students to learn how to study for themselves, so they do not need to be tutored in the future.
I love the students I work with and fostering a connection with them. I am excited for the opportunity to work with you all!
