Hello all! I am Meghan. I am one semester away from receiving my B.A. in Linguistics, with a dual minor in Chinese and Criminology. I currently have an A.A. in Modern Language, with a concentration in Chinese. I graduated from Middlesex College with Highest Honors and a 3.84 GPA. At my current university, I have a 3.72 GPA. At both universities, I have been on the Dean's List every semester it is offered. Throughout my college career, I have learned many different skills and am confident in Phonetics/Phonology, especially with IPA. I also love working with Syntax and teaching how to work with syntax trees.

Before college, I learned how fun languages were to learn, explore and teach, and it became a passion of mine! I have experience as a peer literature mentor at my local JDC, and I also volunteered as an ESL tutor's assistant at my high school. Over the past four years, I have also worked with children as a babysitter and aftercare teacher. Here, I helped kids with handwriting, phonics, and the alphabet! I enjoy seeing kids make progress, especially after I make the effort to adjust their lessons to their particular needs.

Tutoring is something I really enjoy doing and being a Wyzant student myself, I knew I needed to hop on and share my passions with those in need. Please feel free to reach out and ask questions or schedule a lesson! I look forward to chatting with you :-)

Cooking

At seven years old, I started learning how to cook from my father, who obtained a degree from the Culinary Institute of America. I have been perfecting my techniques and recipes ever since. Due to my years of research into cooking techniques, appliances, and recipes, I feel confident teaching someone else!
ESL/ESOL

I have taught ESL over the summer in 2023 and loved every minute of it! I have 6+ experience with children and teaching them and I am currently going through a 120hr TEFL course for teaching English to English Language Learners.
IELTS

IELTS

I have five years of formal experience teaching ESL, as well as a certificate through TEFL.org. I have taught ESL through various companies and have experience working with bilinguals as well as non-natives arriving from different countries. I have experience teaching beginners through advanced English speakers.

Public Speaking

I am a teacher who uses public speaking skills daily. I am also getting a BA in Linguistics, focusing on Phonetics (aka speech sounds). This experience and my learning experience allow me to offer my unique skills and tips to others.
Writing

Writing

I have taught English (reading, writing, grammar) to ESL students. ELA is a topic I am incredibly comfortable with, and it is a topic that my Associate's degree was based around. I have been in advanced English classes since my Freshman year of high school and even took similar classes such as creative writing, public speaking, and Literature and Composition (a class based upon writing essays about books we read in class) in college to keep my ELA skills up to date.
