I'm familiar with Reading/Writing Workshop and have trained in the Orton-Gillingham reading program. I've also developed and corrected Math assessments for Houghton Mifflin/Harcourt, and in both areas of reading and math I coach students along, applying proven strategies to differentiate instruction continuously in my work.
I have taught ESL freshman Writing for five semesters, and I have privately tutored speakers of French and Japanese. I assist part-time in a self-contained classroom for the School District of the Chathams, which I've done for four years.
I've integrated effective teaching methods into my tutoring lessons from all of areas of my experience, including Reading intervention, Writing, and ESL. I have a B.A. in Journalism and an M.Litt. in Writing.
