My mission is for you to feel confident and powerful with math and to see your grade come up. I am a calm, perceptive expert in your struggles with Algebra and Geometry. My math understanding goes deep enough to see the nugget of truth in your mistakes, and to build you up from there.

I bring 14 years of high school classroom experience with Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Math 1, Math 2, and Math 3. Many of those classrooms were EC inclusion, with a wide range of abilities. I specialized in working with struggling students. For 16 years I have tutored 1-to-1 and small groups of students ages 12 to 20, in person and online. In 2015, I became a founding teacher of a new Early College high school. There, we encourage first-generation college students by giving them constant innovative support. Also, I have ten years experience with ACT prep using Princeton Review techniques. And, I am proficient with both TI and desmos online calculators.

Students comment on how my explanations are simple and clear. Administrators and parents remark on my calm, patient approach, and how I create a welcoming and attentive atmosphere. I listen and hear you first to discern how you see the math. I use a series of questions, and drawings, and examples that suit your mind. Then, I make sure you know how to know your answer is correct. Knowing you are right on your own is when you feel power and confidence.

I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a BA in mathematics. I earned teacher certification for grades 9 through 12 from East Carolina University. I scored 720/800 on the SAT math test. I achieved “Exceeds Proficiency” on the Department of Education Praxis certification exam.
