Hi! My name is Sarah, and I absolutely love teaching English. I have experience tutoring native English speakers and ESL/ELL students of all ages. I tutored in writing and was an academic coach at my University for 2 years where I helped with topics that ranged from how to write a thesis statement to brainstorming research topics to grammar (and much more). Hi! My name is Sarah, and I absolutely love teaching English. I have experience tutoring native English speakers and ESL/ELL students of all ages. I tutored in writing and was an academic coach at my University for 2 years where I helped with topics that ranged from how to write a thesis statement to brainstorming research topics to grammar (and much more). I also have experience teaching young learners in between the ages of 5-11 years old in improving their vocabulary, grammar, and reading comprehension skills. I am TEFL certified from the International TEFL Academy, have an undergraduate degree in English and Marketing, and a Masters in Education, TEFL.

With any student I work with I like to start off by understanding their goals, and then we create a success plan together to ensure all their goals are met. I'm excited to work with you!

As I said earlier, I have experience teaching classrooms and one-on-one tutoring for all ages and language levels. I have experience in tutoring writing topics such as:
- thesis writing, grammar, essay organization, topic brainstorming, transition sentences, citing sources properly
And I have experience tutoring ESL students as well in the following:
- pronunciation, vocabulary expansion, speaking practice, writing, reading comprehension, handwriting, study strategies, IELTS/ TEOFL preparation, and more

I have an English Literature degree from the University of Alabama in Huntsville and I'm TEFL certified, so I have experience tutoring native and non-native English speakers in English. I have worked with students in the past from essay formatting to grammar rules to symbolism in novels.

As a coach, I helped students with study strategies, time management, goal creation, stress management, and more. I have worked with ELS Charlotte Language Centers to help adults new to the USA prepare for their IELTS exam so they can enter American Universities. I also have experience teaching English to middle school and high school students with more than 5 years of experience in the classroom. I am comfortable tutoring online as I’ve done so one-on-one with students or with a whole class via Zoom.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

My daughter is working on her ELA skills with her. She is reviewing her 5th grade materials and preparing for 6th grade. Sarah is very knowledgeable, helping my daughter work on understanding literary passages, grammar, summarizing, text evidence, etc. She is very patient as well, and makes sure my daughter is able to fully grasp what she is working on before moving on. She also gave my daughter some homework to help her remember and deepen the skills she works on with Sarah.
