Hello my name is Maira, a certified Spanish and ESL teacher, I have been a language teacher for about 15 years, and also I have been working with Wyzant for about 5 years. All my students like my teaching methods based on current techniques. I have received excellent comments from parents and companies about my teaching. For further information, see my profile.

Depend on how many miles I have to drive or how many hours the student need per day. For two hours, the rate will be 30.
I can't believe how much that I'm learning in such a short period of time. Maira is a professional and humble instructor who makes learning fun and easy. She is attune to different learning types and knows how to open up the mind to learn when it hits road blocks. I highly recommend her as an instructor.
We asked Maira to tutor our daughter who is already doing well in Spanish in school. However, in one lesson Maira was able to identify the things our daughter needed to work on, and is planning to send us lesson plans to help with that. She was realistic in setting our expectations that it could take up to 3 months. However, she also acknowledged the strong points our daughter has. After the lesson our daughter felt she finally knew what she knew vs. didn't know in Spanish. We're looking forward to future lessons.
I have only had a few lessons with Maira so far, but she is great! She customizes the lessons to my needs and is open to going over things that I would like to learn.
Maira is an excellent spanish tutor, who is very quick to adapt her teaching style to meet your personal needs and language level. Having studied spanish for some 6 years in HS/University, I have had various teachers and am still thoroughly impressed with Maira's teaching ability.
My mother did a great job in the research of finding a Spanish Teacher for us. I really loved Maira's energy with my son. She kept his attention, and had him speaking in Spanish. He has not been excited about Spanish until tonight. He could not stop talking about how good he felt after the lesson. And to hear your child say " Mom I can do this, I really feel good about this now" is a wonderful feeling. I really appreciate the patience Maira has. We will continue. Thank you.
Maira has been working with my daughter for a year now, starting in 8th grade when our school's Spanish teacher was not very good. My daughter is taking Spanish 2 now and is doing quite well. Although my daughter has an excellent teacher at school this year, Maira's work with her each week with pronunciation, conversation, and review has been extremely valuable and well worth the expense. Maira is always prepared and has an engaging personality. She makes learning Spanish fun.
Very good tutor and very easy to understand.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
My name is Maira D., I am a K-12th grade Teacher. But I decided to get the ESL and Spanish Teacher licensures to be qualified in different subjects. I love to help elementary children in reading. Sometimes parents work hard and they do not have time for children at home. I divide the lesson time helping them doing homework and reading for at least 45 minutes. I use different techniques (audio, video, and good books). All my students have learned a lot by reading, and become successful learning how to read by the end of the year.
