I am a National Board Certified Teacher. I am certified to teach kindergarten through 8th grade. I have experience teaching throughout these grade levels as well as working with individual and small group tutoring sessions. Tutoring gives me the opportunity to work individually with various types of students. As an educator, I know that different students have different learning styles and learning needs. Sometimes it is very difficult for students to learn everything in a larger group during the regular school year. The tutoring atmosphere allows the student to relax, work on the specific skills, and take that skill to mastery. I like teaching reading focusing on fluency, grammar, and comprehension. I like to teach math through a problem solver's eye. I like to use games, technology, puzzles, and teacher/student made activities. I like to use active learning so that the student can participate in real life, real time learning before we work on the skill on paper.
The exciting part of the process comes when I can accurately match the learning style, the instructional materials and tools, and the interests of the student to the needs of that particular student. I have taught a variety of grade levels and I am very knowledgeable about the bench mark skills or each grade level. Students may become discouraged when learning becomes difficult. It is very important for me to understand the small pieces of a skill that will help the student to be able to work on a skill with the confidence that learning can happen. Learning is an adventure in every way! I am a National Board Certified Teacher. I am certified to teach kindergarten through 8th grade. My son did not like school work and cried the first few times he went to tutoring. Mrs. H was fantastic, she engaged him with a variety of activities, flashcards and games. She encouraged him and gave positive praise. By the end of the school year he LOVED tutoring, was eager to learn, wanted to learn and was reading at the top of his grade level. Mrs. H saved my baby mind and changed his attitude towards learning, we love her. If you want the EXCELLENCE she is it.
She helped my kids to increase their scores in reading, math etc
Really she is a best tutor for K-5
I am pleased with Cynthia. She immediately understood my concerns and began to address the problems. My granddaughter related well to Cynthia.
Cynthia is both professional and was able to put my child at ease. She has the ability to share information in a way that my child will learn and grasp concepts with ease.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
