Having Anita as my tutor is the best decision I've ever made to fundamentally revamp my English writing. She is extremely experienced, forthright, proactive, meticulous, and dependable. Most essentially, she tailors the curriculum to target my weakness and fits my progress. I’ve had nine recurring sessions with her so far. Every single session was effective and enjoyable. Here is some background about where I was before working with Anita: English is my second language (ESL to be short). I've had no problem with speaking but tons of trouble with writing. I was mentally rejecting writing so much and had zero clues on how to improve it. Recently I'm preparing for GRE, so I have to face my long-time fear directly and tackle it in less than two months. I started out with other lower-priced tutors on Wyzant. It didn't work out at all. In fact, I got demoralized even further. It was so easy for those tutors to point out my problems, but they offered few actionable steps to systematically develop my writing. Feeling desperate, I posted my situation and received several inquiries. Anita’s response was the only one with ESL’s needs in mind. She asked me to send her a GRE writing sample for diagnosis. Then she offered a 15-minute consultation session for free. She did not sugarcoat her feedback, summarized all my problems, and shed light on improvement. I was glad to finally find someone who’s candid and methodological. What a great start! As mentioned before, every session is tailored to my weakness and progress. We usually begin by reviewing what I’ve learned or critiquing what I’ve written. Then we’d move on to go over a structured session plan that she creates just for me. We’ve covered all aspects of writing, from higher-level concerns like structure to lower-level concerns like grammar usage. She is very resourceful and shares many useful links for me to practice either in class or as homework, which gives me autonomy and saves money. As for course logistics, she sets up a Google Drive, which houses all course materials, recordings, and my essays. It is very convenient to have a one-stop-shop for all my needs. In addition, communication between sessions is very smooth. She always responds to my questions timely, gives heads up if anything happens, and sometimes nudges me for homework because I procrastinate :P. For every hourly session I’m billed, she would spend extra hours on top of it to communicate, analyze my essays, and prepare individualized session plans. I believe she is motivated to so out of her passion for writing and teaching. As a result, the outcome is very encouraging - I was immensely proud when comparing the essay I wrote at session zero side by side with the one I wrote after session six. It was a huge difference! Thanks for your attention. This is the longest review I’ve ever posted, which probably demonstrates that I don’t hate writing as much anymore. It’s the least I can do for a great tutor like Anita who’s new to Wyzant and has only a handful of reviews. If you’ve read till this point, don’t hesitate! I’m positive that every penny you spend working with Anita will be worth it!

The BEST Farsi tutor

Anita is the best tutor I have ever had, both for Farsi and overall. She is diligent in her methods and highly organized. She has provided both a syllabus and lesson plans for our time together and it has totally streamlined and enhanced my learning. I can tell that not only is my language aptitude improving, but also that my ingrained errors are finally being fixed with her attention to detail so I can move toward more advanced proficiency. A Bespoke Learning Experience

I was looking for an experienced IELTS tutor. Finding Ms. Anita was a miracle, she and I had one week to work together and my mission was to score a 7+ in IELTS. She gave me an in depth understanding of how the exam was set up, and tailored the tutorials to my needs within the time that we had. I loved her wholistic approach to teaching and the amount of concern she had for my goals despite us having time for only about 3-4 sessions in total, for instance, she would give me assignments and check up on me incase I needed further help. I also really liked her policy of having a brief 15min free of cost session in the beginning to assess if we were a good fit. In our time together, I have definitely learnt key strategies that helped me during my speaking, listening, reading, and writing tests. She and I worked a lot on my writing, and I felt much more confident taking the test. Tutors like Ms. Anita are not common, and I would love to continue working with her during my academic studies.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

She taught me useful topics to be able to converse with. She structures her lesson plans to the individual which is fantastic. She always send out lesson plans before hand and reviews previous weeks work.

Anita is the best Farsi teacher I’ve ever had. I started lessons with her about 3 months ago and I (and my family) are really impressed with my progress. I have gone from knowing just the alphabet, basic grammar, and minimal vocabulary to having a real understanding of a whole range of tenses (beyond the simple past, present and future) and some advanced vocabulary. I take 2 1-hour lessons with Anita a week, which are so meticulously planned out and tailored to my learning. The lessons are challenging so that I come away feeling that I have learned a lot in just an hour. Anita is also a really patient teacher (even when I keep making the same mistake!) and she uses repetition to make sure I don’t forget what we learned the previous week. Anita has such an amazing grasp of languages in general that I’m even learning about English grammar and I am a native English speaker! I am feeling much more confident about my Farsi, and I will continue to work with Anita for the foreseeable future.

Anita has taught me persian for over a year and she is by far the best tutor I have interacted with. Her individualized and flexible approach to lesson plans is invaluable, allowing me to focus on speaking, translating, writing, or cultural understanding depending on my needs. In addition, Anita really cares for her students encouraging a sense of familiarity that is extremely important in motivating her students to push the boundaries of their language use. In addition, she has routinely made herself available outside of regularly scheduled class times to assist me in pressing coursework. All around a fantastic tutor and person.
