Are you an adult student looking to learn a new skill or revive your Spanish for the medical profession, mission trips, or general conversation? Are you a high school or college student wanting to improve your skills, confidence, and grades? My friendly, positive, personalized approach will encourage you to "crack the code" of the Spanish language. Students' excellent reviews describe me as "patient," "caring," and "explaining things clearly," reflecting the 5-star teacher I work hard to be. In addition, many mention the unique service I provide to all students at no extra charge: In every Lesson Summary, I include links to online practice exercises, instructional videos, articles, etc., to supplement and review what we cover in the lesson.

My extensive teaching experience in various contexts has prepared me to support motivated learners, from beginners to advanced students. Over my eight years with WyzAnt, most of the 4,000+ hours have been online. I was a top 10% tutor for two consecutive years, featured in the "Tutor Spotlight" of a recent newsletter.

Spanish language and culture were part of my growing-up years, as my mother was a teacher by profession. My B.A. in Spanish included one year of study abroad in Spain. I have maintained near-native fluency through my work as a teacher, tutor, freelance medical interpreter, and assistant counselor for Latino families, and through my friendships with native Spanish speakers from several countries.

Music lessons and participation in choirs were central to my childhood, youth, and early adulthood. I also earned a second bachelor's and master's degrees in Music. Both programs included excellent training, professional performing experiences, and teaching methods/techniques courses. My musical education prepared me to make concepts clear and help people develop latent talent, which has been my joy ever since.

My bachelor´s and master´s degree programs included courses in Vocal Pedagogy - how to teach others to understand the anatomy of the voice and healthy vocal technique. I also studied voice as part of my programs and have many years of experience addressing groups in churches, schools, and the community. I have coached many singers, actors, and those who are new to addressing groups to project their voices in the healthiest way possible and to avoid vocal injury. I also teach phrasing, variation of pitch, and clear diction in order to make the presentations more interesting to the listeners.

Adaptabe and Effective tutor

I have an odd situation. I'll be traveling to South America soon. I've been studying on my own, and it dawned on me slowly that it was a dumb idea. With only a few weeks left, Elizabeth has found several different interesting and effective ways to help me get more comfortable with communicating. I tried several different tutors before landing with her, and I feel lucky that I did.

I highly recommend Elizabeth !!

One year ago, we made a tough decision of moving our 13-year-old 7th grader to a new school, as he got admitted to a Dual Language Charter School (50% Spanish/50% English). My son had very little knowledge of Spanish language. He only knew some basic vocabulary from Spanish class in elementary school and from hearing family speak. Elizabeth taught my son Spanish at a very intense level the first couple of months (3 x 60-min lessons a week). Then gradually decreased to shorter, fewer lessons pr week due to his progress (1/2 hour each week). We found Elizabeth by searching the internet. We feel so lucky we found her. Our son liked her instantly from our first online meeting. He was very receptive to working with her. She is excellent, patient, and knowledgeable. Elizabeth teaches Spanish at different levels and helps with homework when needed, practice free conversation and is always well prepared with what's next to learn. I only have positive things to say about Elizabeth and I highly recommend her. This is and have been a 5 Star experience all the way. Elizabeth, we couldn't have done this without you!!. Thank You.

First lesson was great!

I'm confident that Elizabeth is going to have me confidently speaking Spanish very soon! She is clearly patient and provided thoughtful exercises for me to work on during the week to practice. Already looking forward to my next lesson.

Elizabeth is a very gifted teacher!

Elizabeth N. is a very caring, wise, and thoughtful teacher. We tried out other teachers but she is the best. She created a whole curriculum for my daughter which my daughter found engaging and FUN. She gave meaningful homework and my daughter really enjoyed her approach. We will definitely work with her again and can’t recommend her highly enough.

I am so happy to have found Elizabeth as a tutor. She is everything someone would want in a tutor -- knowledgeable, patient, thoughtful, resourceful, and imaginative. I could not ask for more in a teacher.
