I've been a math tutor, across many different specialties, since my freshman year of college over 20 years ago when I took a work/study job in our school's tutoring center. Struggling in Calculus? I've got you covered. Pre-Calc? Algebra? Trig? Here for you. Something in the middle or high school Common Core range? I've done that, too.
After graduating with a B.A. in Mathematics from a small, private college where I really got to engage one-on-one with my professors, I went to grad school at NCSU and completed a Master's. While there, I was a TA with full teaching responsibilities, so I also have full classroom experience.
Since 2020, I've been tutoring Calculus online (and also worked with several middle and high school students online that year), having pivoted to virtual when everyone else did. I've found that, with my tablet by my side for writing the math out, and the student somewhere comfortable, we have better outcomes, if anything, than if we were in person. Depending on the student and where we are in the material, I do a combination of demonstrating how problems should be solved and asking pointed questions to actually show a student they can answer a question on their own — explaining to someone else helps with learning, after all.
Basically, I'm just passionate about Mathematics and helping students reach their potential.
