From high school to college studies, I am also specialized in preparing specific subjects such as Honors and AP programs, and students and adults who wish to pursue a career in the medical field (MCAT, DAT, Nursing, PA, Physical Therapy, etc.).
I am a professional tutor with the highest degree of education. I also dedicate my time to prepare the classes thoroughly before the tutoring. Do not hesitate to contact me, I will be glad to assist you.
Here is a bit of my biography. Talk to you soon!
After a master's degree in Mathematics and Biochemistry, I was awarded two competitive national fellowships to teach for 4 years in a European university and study for a PhD in Biology and Biochemistry. After graduating with highest distinction, I took a position as a Postdoctoral fellow at UNC-Chapel Hill, where I undertook a 5-year research project in Biology and Biochemistry, which received a U.S. federal grant from the National Institutes of Health. I was then promoted to Research Assistant Professor, continued to teach Biology and Biochemistry at UNC for 4 years, and was the award winner of a year-round in-house oral presentation research contest in my Department.
I have experience in Scientific Writing, having published a dozen peer-reviewed scientific publications in international journals, and as Scientific Reviewer for the National Science Foundation (NSF) grant proposal evaluation process in the Molecular and Cellular Biosciences Division, and for Plant Cell, Plant Journal, Journal of Plant Physiology, Current Opinion in Plant Biology, Federation of European Biochemical Societies, Medical Science Monitor (2005-2010).
I also supervised and trained undergraduates at UNC in all the steps from thinking and building a scientific project around various scientific disciplines (Chemistry and Life Sciences), to obtaining and interpreting preliminary data and writing a successful competitive fellowship application. Under my mentoring, one of my research students was awarded two distinguished prizes: a Research Fellowship Program from the “Pfizer Global Research & Development Award”, and the “J.N. Couch Award for Excellence in Biology” at UNC-Chapel Hill. I was also a researcher in the biotechnology industry, in the Research Triangle Park, with a competitive fellowship from the North Carolina Biotechnology Center.
I teach elementary, high school, college students and adults who would like to take classes in Math, Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Physiology, Pharmacology and Anatomy for exam preparation, or for the purpose of filling a particular gap in the curriculum, acquiring more education and developing reasoning skills.
Having been a scientist for many years, learning to pay attention to detail, passing numerous exams all the way up to a PhD program, and obtaining several scholarships, fellowships and grants, I am extremely well prepared to guide you through the difficulties of understanding and reasoning you may face during your exam preparation, or grant applications.
My Honors and Fellowships

You will not find a better teacher
Dr. Patrick V. is, without question, the best teacher I've had in my 7 years of higher education. Here's why: Dr. V. is exceptionally intelligent and can brilliantly communicate and explain challenging concepts. Dr. V. has a huge collection of supplemental material which complements the schoolwork I bring to him to review. This supplemental material, along with the clear and concise way he progresses though it, always proves to strengthen my understanding of the topic under review. Additionally, he is always prepared for every session. Each time I enter the office for a session, the material to review is loaded on the computer and no time is wasted. Often times, for the concepts I need to review, it is necessary to first work through important background material. This supplemental information is also loaded on the computer, allowing the work to begin right away. Dr. V. is hard-working (he always works though the problems on his own sent to him before the session), patient (if I do not understand a concept the first time it is explained, he acknowledges that it is tricky and finds a new way to explain the material), enthusiastic (it is clear that he is passionate both about the subjects he teaches and ensuring the student succeeds in those subjects), and an excellent communicator. To sum up, Dr. V. knows his stuff and he has all the tools to make sure that you know it, too. I would absolutely recommend Dr. V.Efren, 17 lessons with Dr. Patrick
Knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly
Dr Patrick was very thorough on identifying my daughter's needs in Chemistry. He explained the differences in specific equations that would be deemed confusing, like molarity and molality. Dr. Patrick took into account my daughter’s processing time, and waited for her to fully understand everything she needed to know before moving onto the next topic. I will definitely be calling Dr Patrick again!Nieves, 2 lessons with Dr. Patrick

Awesome tutor, very committed!
Dr. Patrick has been teaching my son AP Chemistry. He was recently doing an online lesson and there was a problem with the network. Dr. Patrick went out of his way to get that fixed and waited for a long time although it was late night since my son had a test the following day! He is in general a very organized, knowledgeable and an excellent tutor. I would very highly recommend him.Suma, 2 lessons with Dr. Patrick
The Most Helpful Tutor
Dr. Patrick was by far the most helpful tutor that i've ever had in my entire life. Not only does he improve your grade in the class, he makes sure that you fully understand the material before moving on. He is also a very good person as you can talk to him about personal matters. He improved my knowledge and grade significantly and i am very thankful for him.Hyaijung, 30 lessons with Dr. Patrick

Very knowledgeable AP Chem
My son can be picky about tutors. He learns quickly and likes someone who teaches at his pace and explains things well. I was pleased that he said he was very happy with how his session went today. He said he learned more in one hour than in a week with his teacher. He will be going back again next week.Lynne, 2 lessons with Dr. Patrick

Very knowledgeable, methodical, thorough and patient.
Dr. Patrick is very knowledgeable, methodical, thorough and patient when teaching a concept. He can cater teaching to the students of any level of understanding. His power point presentations are very effective. My 14 year old daughter had a few tutoring sessions with Dr. Patrick. She enjoyed all of them and felt that the sessions were very effective and helpful for her exams. She is looking forward to attending the tutorial classes for her sophomore AP chemistry and math subjects. I am so glad that I found an excellent, God sent tutor in Dr. Patrick.Amar, 16 lessons with Dr. Patrick
Made Chemistry Exciting
Dr. Patrick's teaching method helped our daughter get excited about learning chemistry and to improve her grade with just few classes. She indicated how easy it is to understand the material with the way Dr. Patrick explained the subject. She has become more interested in chemistry and happy to go to her tutoring classes. We greatly recommend Dr. Patrick as a tutor.Lourdes, 4 lessons with Dr. Patrick
