I’m a PhD student in the social sciences at UNC’s Hussman School of Journalism and Media with hands-on experience teaching and mentoring college students. I’ve served as Instructor of Record for Advertising & PR Research Methods, taught Media Ethics as an adjunct, and worked as a supplemental instructor and tutor for courses in research methods, writing, and health communication. My teaching is informed by both classroom instruction and one-on-one tutoring at the undergraduate level, so I know how to translate course expectations into clear, usable guidance.
I tutor college and graduate students in statistics for social science and research methods, college-level writing and essays, communication/PR topics, and ethics. My approach focuses first on building conceptual understanding (so problems don’t just get fixed once), then on applying those concepts to your assignments, whether that’s interpreting results, designing a small study, or tightening an argument and improving structure and clarity in writing. I emphasize practical skills you can reuse (e.g., reading results, structuring literature reviews, and polishing prose) and I adapt sessions to each student’s goals and deadlines.
