About Amber

Bio

I have over four years of experience as a High School Math Teacher in NC Public Schools and have helped over 600 students during the past 24 years with private tutoring. I love it! The biggest affirmation that I am using my gifts properly is hearing comments like, "I wish my teacher could explain this the way you do. You make it seem so easy!". It truly is a pleasure to make a career of something I enjoy doing so much.

I have over four years of experience as a High School Math Teacher in NC Public Schools and have helped over 600 students during the past 24 years with private tutoring. I love it! The biggest affirmation that I am using my gifts properly is hearing comments like, "I wish my teacher could explain this the way you do. You make it seem so easy!". It truly is a pleasure to make a career of something I enjoy doing so much.

The one-on-one approach of private tutoring facilitates real learning. I am very personable and offer an "always positive" learning environment. My style is to demonstrate then to offer the student an opportunity to try the new skill with "training wheels" while I offer immediate feedback on the process. This builds confidence and puts the student in an upward spiral of understanding and success. I am able to instruct for both calculator active and calculator inactive assessments. I am proficient with graphing technology on TI-84 and Desmos.

I graduated Magna Cum Laude as a Teaching Fellow from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education. Most importantly, however, is not that I am able to DO the math, but that I am able to teach YOU how to do the math. There is a difference.

I am very impressed with Ms. Amber. She is very professional, clear and helpful. I asked my daughter to give me her opinion and she said "I love Ms. Amber.
