Thank you for considering me as your tutor! Preparing for a test like the LSAT is an overwhelming task for many people, especially when balanced alongside other responsibilities in life, but choosing the right tutor can smooth out the process considerably. I am highly accustomed to working with students at various points in their LSAT prep: some students come to me to fine tune shortly before their test while others work with me for 3+ months to work from the ground up.

I have over 5 years of tutoring experience and currently specialize in designing and maintaining personalized prep for my students, and in doing so, I take into account individual circumstances. The pace of lessons - for example - is determined by many factors, such as timeline, student ability, student temperament, and lesson frequency. That said, although I am flexible within lessons, I heavily emphasize a structured and methodical overall approach.

GRE

GRE

Regarding the GRE, I scored 169/170 on the quantitative section and 165/170 on the verbal section, which puts me in the 96th percentile of test takers for each section. (The 334/340 combined score falls at or around the 99th percentile.) I also scored a 5.0/6.0 on the analytical writing section - landing me in the 93rd percentile for that section. I have an extensive background tutoring math up to and including pre-calculus and have also worked with about 20 LSAT students within the past few years; this diverse teaching experience helps me adjust to each student's needs and has prepared me well to help students of differing backgrounds and talents tackle the GRE.

Logic

I am qualified in logic - generally - given my minor in philosophy completed at Boston College in May 2015. I am qualified - specifically - given my course grade "A" in the course "Logic", which I completed during my third year of study. In addition to this introductory course, I earned an "A-" in the course "Charles S. Pierce", which (as the name suggests) was dedicated to the study of American logician Charles S. Pierce. I have since continued to study logic, largely in preparation for and thereafter tutoring of the LSAT, on which I scored in the 99th percentile.

LSAT

I scored a 175 on the LSAT, have helped over 300 students prepare for the test, and am committed to the success of those who are on board and prepared to work hard to generate positive results. I've guided students to several 170+ results (w/176 as the highest and 175 as the runner-up). Some of my highest performing students have achieved acceptance to one or more top US law schools - including UC Berkeley and Harvard University during the 2020/2021 cycle - and have the improved critical thinking skills required to succeed in law school. An excellent LSAT tutor

Shane is an excellent LSAT tutor. He is very knowledgable, patient, and kind. He has a strong conceptual understanding of the skills that the LSAT tests, as well as how to develop a robust plan for study each week. He emphasizes the importance of keeping a balance between LSAT studying, other obligations, and time for yourself. I had already done a good amount of prep before starting with Shane. When I started working with him, we jumped right in and quickly found the areas I was ready to develop skills in.

Solid Tutor and very knowledgeable

Shane G. did great with preparing me for my LSAT with time constraints. I had 4 sessions with Shane and I felt significantly more confident. He forced me to prepare and taught me how to tackle specific questions I struggled with. He is great at what he does!

Great teacher and SO helpful for LSAT prep!!

Shane was great to work with and always was very attentive during all of our lessons. He helped me score consistently 10+ points higher than what I was scoring before. I came to him initially for help with RC and later for LR. Before I started with Shane I had completed a different prep course for the April 2021 LSAT and received an okay score. I worked with Shane for 6 weeks for this past June LSAT and he really was able to help clarify and explain different methodologies in a clearer way. He’s very patient and if you don’t understand something at first he’s able to explain a concept in multiple different ways to help you understand. Would highly recommend him for anyone who’s prepping for the LSAT.

Great LSAT Tutor

I had a great experience working with Shane. He was very helpful in pinpointing my strengths and weaknesses and creating lessons tailored to them. He also pointed me to other resources that greatly helped improve my score. I also enjoyed the weekly personalized homework schedules to keep me on track. Before tutoring with Shane, I had been consistently stuck at the same score but after a few weeks I started to see point increases. I am now almost to my target score!

First Lesson

Shane helped me accomplish that fear of failing at obtaining my best score. He put it in simpler terms and elaborated on things i never really considered. I feel much more confident about my Reading Comprehension already and we have only had one session!

Personalized work load and great results!

Shane provided me with the entirety of my LSAT training from textbooks to specialized drills nearing my test date. I really appreciated his attention to my specific problem areas and strengths. He provides individualized lesson plans with great structure! Highly recommend if you want to improve your score and be competitive for top law school admissions.

Kind, Professional, and Invaluable

It's difficult to know what resources and roads to follow when it comes to LSAT preparation and practice. Prior to working with Shane, I had been doing self-study that was largely without focus and oblivious to much. Shane was the exact person I needed to put me on the right track. Shane has an expertise and intimate knowledge of not only the ins and outs of the test and tricks of the trade, but of how to prepare - the ways to structure your studying, how to measure and keep track of work, and how to manage the mental aspects of the test. My preptests scores improved markedly (10 points) while working with Shane over the course of two months, using his drills and direction to help me improve my study. This would not have been possible without him, as prior to our lessons I had plateaued and felt completely stuck. I would recommend Shane to anyone seeking help on the LSAT, even and especially those who are already scoring well but want to take it to the next level. He is a kind, instructive, and receptive tutor and I am very grateful for his guidance.

The LSAT Guru

Shane is a true professional! He knows the LSAT backwards and forwards. If I even vaguely described a question, he would know immediately where it was and how to explain it. Shane is incredible at making personalized study plans to help you target your weak spots and see real results. I started with Shane with a 159-161, after taking a prep class, and ended with high-160s (my goal) on my practice tests! I took the July flex and went on auto-pilot — I felt like I had total control over the test and how to approach the questions. I also feel like I have become smarter overall, thanks to Shane. Highly recommend!

Organized, Patient, & Knowledgeable

I can speak for almost anyone who has worked with Shane when I say that he is an incredible tutor. One quality I really appreciate about Shane is how accommodating he is to a student's learning style. I am personally a slow learner and after our first lesson, I recognized that the pace of our lesson was too fast for me. I emailed Shane about it and the next lesson he was able to teach in a way that worked best for me. This shows how attentive Shane is to students' learning needs. Shane is very knowledgeable about the LSAT and he presents strategies in a clear way. I feel a lot more confident with the LSAT, thanks to Shane. I highly recommend.
