About Dawna

I have almost ten years of experience with children and teens plus over twenty years of experience in Business and Information Technology (IT). I have served as an independent tutor and consultant for the past five years. Following is a categorized summary:

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Baseball

I spent two years coaching 7/8 year old coach-pitch co-ed baseball and five years as an official stat keeper for competitive, travel baseball team.

Basketball

I have spent seven years coaching K-6 basketball and three years as a referee for K-6 basketball. I was a high school varsity player.

Business

I finished my MBA with a 4.0 and spent three years as self-employed business owner, managing my own AP/AR and federal/state reporting. My undergrad bachelor degree is in Comp Science / Applied Business. I have four years bookkeeping & tax prep experience from accounting firms.

Elementary (K-6th)

I spent three years as a substitute teacher for K-6 (repeatedly requested), including reading classes for IDP students. Prior tutoring in 5th grade math; money counting; reading.

Four year teacher for K-6 Sunday School classes and/or Vacation Bible School.

I've worked with K-6 continuously over the years -- substitute teaching; coaching sports; serving as Girl Scout leader; and teaching Bible study groups.

Microsoft Outlook

I have five years of extensive Outlook experience, including notes, tasks, calendar & Inbox. I have the ability to create folders, utilized voting buttons, define security, and other items. I am willing to show proficiency through test or further questions.

Public Speaking

I am a member of Toastmasters International, with Advanced Communicator designation. I have worked with employee training for three companies which included groups of 3 to 30 and am a three-time speaker at national symposium, with several hundred in audience.

QuickBooks

I have three years experience utilizing QuickBooks in a self-employed business that included wholesale, retail, & 20 employees. I also have five years experience working part-time for an accountant doing miscellaneous bookkeeping via QuickBooks.

Tax Preparation

I have three years tax preparation experience with Alliance Accounting.

Volleyball

I am a two-session coach for 5th-6th grade girls and I play in an Adult recreation volleyball team. I was a high school varsity player.
