I love learning and when I graduated with my Master’s degree, I wanted to work at a job that would keep me learning and also use the skills I used in school — research, critical thinking, creative thinking and writing. I became an advertising and editorial copywriter — a career I’ve worked in for 30 years and continue to pursue. Along the way, I have educated myself and pursued experiences in music, theatre, public speaking, art and history ,and have returned to school and am pursuing a BS in Environmental Science.

I am halfway through a B S in Environmental Science from the University of Missouri/Kansas City.

I have a Minor in English from the University of Iowa and majored in Communications for both my BA and MA. I taught writing and public speaking while in school and have taught writing and public speaking at several 4-year universities and Jr Colleges

I have worked as a writer most of my career. I have been employed by advertising agencies and company marketing and advertising departments.

In addition, I studied theatre and film as an undergraduate and in Los Angeles. I have worked as an actress, writer, director, publicist and grant writer for small theaters in Kansas City and Los Angeles.

I love teaching and have substitute taught in Kansas City for over five years. Most recently, I taught virtually for Operation Breakthrough- a school that serves children of need in the urban core. I found that I enjoyed teaching virtually. I love inspiring and encouraging children to enjoy learning as much as I do. I believe in making learning fun without sacrificing achievement. I also believe in teaching critical thinking skills at all times. My method consists of asking students a lot of questions which requires they actively participate at all times.
