I am a passionate elementary educator with a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Missouri and a Master’s degree in Elementary Education. I am currently in my second year teaching 2nd grade in a classroom setting, where I work with students every day to strengthen their understanding of foundational math concepts. Teaching math is one of my favorite parts of the school day, and I love helping students build confidence as they learn new strategies and solve challenging problems. I am also currently pursuing opportunities to become a math demonstration teacher because of my strong passion for teaching and learning mathematics.
Through my classroom experience, I have worked with many different types of learners and have developed strategies to support students at various levels of understanding. I regularly teach addition and subtraction strategies, place value, number sense, and problem-solving skills. My teaching approach focuses on breaking down concepts in ways that are easy for students to understand while also encouraging them to explain their thinking. I believe students learn best when they feel supported, confident, and engaged in the learning process.
As a tutor, I strive to create a positive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes while they learn. I tailor my lessons to meet each student’s individual needs and focus on building strong foundational skills that will help them succeed in math long term. My goal is not only to help students improve their math skills, but also to help them develop confidence and a positive mindset toward learning.
